actually windowed games require more CPU to run correctly cuz they are processing the desktop, game, and anything else you have open on the desktop. but u can open the config.xml in notepad and set FullScreen to false.

Hi, First, I'd like to tank you for such a wonderfull game... I don't know if the problem I have has been discussed because I did not find anything when I search the forum... So here it goes, I run XP SP2 and did the 3 first steps when installed the files. Downloaded 4b and I still get this error... GuitarStar crashed. Caused: System.Exception: Audio system failure: ERR_FORMAT Any help would be appreciated.

Nice, thanks for the help on running in a window. It runs almost perfect now, definitely better than it was. ^_^

Praise: 1) Thank you for creating such an awesome program and keeping it free and fun. 2) I've enjoyed it so much, that I don't even bother with my Wii GH3 anymore, since this is the better game... I also now play all my frets on fire songs in this application. Bugs/Problems: 1) The control scheme in GZ1 suited me better, as a Wii guitar owner, I could load Glovepie and sync it up with a PPJoy interface and play the songs with a 100% functional whammy bar and tilt-action for star power. The GZBeta only sees "keyboard" as a valid input device, and this makes it more difficult for me to configure glovepie (I've got everything going but the whammy bar, honestly). 2) My menu of songs is really long now (over 200), and I don't know of a way to organize them ala the setlist of the previous version... couple that with the guitar plink noise played when scrolling through songs, and, the game becomes nigh unplayable. If a song is corrupt in that list somewhere, also, it becomes a huge pain when the game crashes out (I would imagine many of your bug reports are coming from people having songs that break the game) That's really all. I've stopped playing "guitar zero" and have moved on to the GZ Beta for now... so, the upgrade is a 100% success in my book, and if you never touch it again, you've done enough for me!

I just organize mine by groups of 5-7, by Gh1/2/3. (dunno if this is what you mean, so if you already know this, sorry) But..for example. Just make a folder called "Shredding" Put 5 or so songs in it, then put "shredding" in the songs folder. It adds that as a group on the song list. So I have mine organized like "Gh1 1.GroupName" "Gh1 2.GroupName" Then "Gh2 1.GroupName" ect. So the song list looks something like GH1 1.GroupName song song song song song GH1 2.GroupName song song song song song ect.

judgexThansk for the praise 1) Sorry, GZ2 doesn't support the Whammy bar yet, but it's gonna come.. 2) Although this doesn't seem to be very well known, GZ2 supports sub-menues in the setlist. Open config.xml and change <SongList>List</SongList> to <SongList>Folders</SongList>. Then you can just sort your songs into subfolders and the game will give you a folder-view. txfAs I said above, try using the <SongList> to make those "groups" real folders in the setlist. abudThat's weird. The message says that it cannot open a file because your sound system doesn't support the format. Mmmh... I've got no idea what you're missing, try installing a codec pack? Bye, Callisto

I can navigate through the folders fine, but one I finally get to the ones that have the songs, I get this: Note: This still happens with Beta 2. Random works though (it's the only way I can play songs atm).

I was just about to post for help, and saw your post. I can live without sub-folders, but it would make things alot easier. I can play songs without random, because I just have the in "List" but, meh.

I can play songs without random, because I just have the in "List" but, meh. Yeah, I returned back temporarily to List and I can play my custom songs but all my Guitar Hero 1, 2, 3 and 80's songs are in quite an elaborate setup of folders... so a fix would be greatly appreciated. Regardless though, I didn't even realize this was in the game until an hour or so ago, so I can certainly wait on it. You the man callisto. dreakonArgh, [censored] *g* you were probably the first one to try this mode. Well, as usual - I'll fix it with the next update Sweet deal. Thanks!

BUG: Using <Songlist>Folders</Songlist> is causing me an error.
I get to the menu where I see the list of my folders, but, when I choose one of them, I am given the error dialog.
(Object reference not set to an instance of an object) <- top line of the debug...
Other details: Using GZ Beta with the newest update. Windows XP Works fine in List Mode with same songs in same folders. 265 total songs, between 15 and 80 per folder, 7 folders. Have tried it with multiple folder names (GH1, GH2, GH3, Rock Band, Frets on Fire, GHE - 80's, Video Games are folder names) All break. Song sources are: Original Frets on Fire songs, Song downloads from Frets on Fire forums, GZ GH1,2,3, 80's pack.
other than that it works like a charm.

Pressing down repedidly in the setlist doesn't crash me.
Also..i was wondering, is the "more stats" option when a song is over, actually work? or is it not actually in the game yet, and it's meant to be in later? Because I've tried to open the "more" option on every song i've played, and none of them did anything :/

on the multiplayer side
have the same issue from the previous versions where i don't get any notes in multiplayer for almost all my songs, yet the same song work fine in single player
if i let the song play out, i get a divide by zero error at the end of every multiplayer game
i tried a song that displayed the notes and got a different error at the end, crashed while looking for the stars xnb file, looks like its not been updated to look for the png version
and another bug
note alignment between single player and multiplayer sticks to whatever mode u played first and doesn't switch for example
if u play a multiplayer game first its fine, then if u switch to single player all the notes are misaligned and same goes if u play the other way around, so u have to quit the game and restart to get the notes correctly in place if u switch between modes

my setlist thing was giving me trouble to until i deleted the line in the config file
<SongDirectory>c:\Temp\Songs</SongDirectory>
now it works perfect
as long as your songs are in the song folder
ps you can just create folders and they will show up on the menu as whatever you named them

a little annoying thing. Maybe use a short for song titles so they don't appear "under" the stars at the score-screen and on the setlist..

When scrolling in the setlist and you want to go to the bottom by pressing up.. it takes a while for it to glide down to the bottom of the list. I was just wondering if that would be almost instant? Just a time saver

Post by txf on Jan 16, 2008 22:31:15 GMT -5
Yeah, I noticed that too. It scrolls through the entire list, instead of just, sending you there. I agree, it should be instant. Especially when you have A LOT of songs.(I have EVERY GH1/GH2/GH3/GH80 songs, plus a bunch of tv/movie/game songs, and a bunch of metallica and other songs.)

Found a new bug in regards to the starpower in the scoremeter. The x# is not correct when it comes to the starpower. it goes x2 x3 x4 then in star power.. it doesnt use x2 x4 x6 in blue.. it uses it in the original colous saying x2 x3 x4 and when it gets to x8 it just goes blank blue. Just something you should look into for cooler awesoeness also, I played a song that i had completed before and it said 3 stars on the setlist. then when i played that song again but couldnt be botherd to finish it. i pushed give up and went back to the setlist only to find that the 3 star was ereased thats the only bugs from me today

I've been looking all over the place to find a solution. But, my game crashes when some Star Power phrases are hit. Did anyone come across this problem. I remember seeing something in the update descriptions (when they were there) about a SP fix or something like that...I'll post the error message when it happens again...

That happened to me a few times when I first downloaded the first beta. But now it's not doing it anymore. :/ I would be playing, hit star power, then close, error. But like I said, it's working fine for me now :/

really liking this latest version, only issue im still seeing is the more stats screen where it ignores rebinded keys and requires me to use F5 even when F5 is no longer the orange fret key
edit, spoke to soon, this version seems to randomly reset all the settings in the config xml, looks like it might be due to using lower case, like if i change song listing to folder instead of Folder it resets everything in the config

In the beta 2 I put a Stage.avi in Resources/videos, and when I play I get this white background with some edges, and no performance loss... I have Vista Ultimate, GMA 950, 1GB RAM.
