What about adding some random starpower notes automatically to songs without them? The new rock-meter is killing me without the starpower :-).

What about adding some random starpower notes automatically to songs without them? The new rock-meter is killing me without the starpower :-). I remember someone talking about that the game really needs some standards, and i second that too. So thinking about an own starpower paths for GZ would not be a good idea.. And since iancer made this great, great converting program, now all the official GH/RB games has the correct starpower paths, so the only fault that a song would not have starpower, would be the fault of the song charter.

I agree with fude, random starpower would not only mess up the songs, it would also make them harder to compare - I mean, if each run had different starpower pathes, you would end up with vastly different scores and I don't think that's the point of the game.

OK, I get it. So, where can I get the starpower paths? :-)

Well, if you have custom song, you can use some editors. i tried once a chart editor which can be found in Fof forum.. i dont know how easy/difficult is it to add starpower to the songs, but im sure someone here knows the way to do it.

A few requests: Precision mode, GH3 Hyperspeed system, i.e. 1,2,etc. An ingame config. 3d meters, The fonts for the setlist in just a regular TrueType or something, EDIT: johnyg: Use FeedBack. Its really easy to add starpower, and I think it's the easiest. Not like opening it up in anvil and adding that way.

Could you add a Thread Priority feature in the config file ?
Sometime, the game become laggy when an other application is running in the background (anti-virus, emule, web server, msn, outlook, etc...)
So raising the thread priority to higher or highest should fix this problem.
Thank you !

2fude & emerald: I was thinking about original starpower for GH3 and RB songs. I've already found some utilities to add it.
EDIT: Oh, and another idea - I know, that you hate talking about FoF, but what about variable BPM?

Support for multiple 2D stages would be great. Random stages is fine with me, I'd just like to be able to have it change up as more are supported.

johnyg - FeedBack can work for changing BPM's and Starpower. It's the best song editor.

callisto, i know this already been disscused but 2d notes support is getting more important, have you noticed the notes submissons thread is dead?, i know you sayd its already "possible" adding planes to a 3d note but even that way noone here is making/can make notes.
if we had 2d notes support (just a png) we would have a bunch of cool notes since many ppl here can use photoshop
please consider this

johnyg - FeedBack can work for changing BPM's and Starpower. It's the best song editor. The songs already have variable BPM, but GZ2 doesn't change a speed of fretboard according to current BPM - it's what FoF can do, and I think, that it's pretty nice feature. I know, that in this phase, GZ2 is much, much better then FoF (I don't play Frets anymore), but I just liked the feature :-). About the iancer's utility - it's awesome :-).

Does using the whammy bar on star power long notes do anything? In GH it helps you get a little more star power but in this game it seems like it doesn't. If it doesn't thats my one and only request

SOME POTENTIAL NEW FEATURES after checking the new fof noticed that rockband midis contain much more data than just notes, they are divided in sections (not the ones you select when in training) some of those sections are called like this: [section gtr_solo_f]. that determines what section/s are a guitar solo (fretboard turn blue and a porcentage of notes hit is displayed at the end of that section) so the first request is: -Givin support to that kind of sections, when the game reads a section that contains the word "solo" it start the solo mode(described above), notice that continous solo sections make one single solo. Also the rock band midis contain the lirics of the songs meaning that they can be displayed just like in the real rock band, they appear in the midis like this: [d “gd9ÿ Flash “=dƒL“= |ÿ be- “<dx“< ÿ fore “;dƒ“; ‚;ÿ my “=dv“= ÿ eyes “=dŠ“= b“E “Q “] so the obvious request is: -add support for this lirics here is a video so you can see how they work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE0J-o9NIjcthats all regarding rb midis talking about fretboards would be nice to have a folder for fretboards so the game loads a random fretboard from there, just like the new music background sistem. well i (we) would love to see this implemented in the game, Please callisto give it a try

I have a relatively simple request: Support for per-song 2D stages, similar to how videos can be read per-song. Something akin to a stage2D.xml in a particular song folder that would then read from GuitarZero/Resources/Textures/[insert stage name]. Referencing the files should be easy enough from a particular song -- but irregardless the textures would always go in [root]/Resources/Textures/[stage]. We can already do multiple stage texture sets, as mine points to [root]/Resources/Textures/JudyNails_Stage
That would allow us to do some fun stuff like have Aerosmith playing the Aerosmith songs, the girl singer singing female songs, Bret Micheals doing Poison stuff, Rock Band characters for Rock Band songs, and Run DMC for their songs. (And obviously just being able to have lots of different stages would be cool too).
Even though it wouldn't be "Official" for the release, I'd totally be willing (and already am) to do multiple stages in the slideshow format that JD2504 and I have done (but mine will have the FPS that JD's have. And I can't speak for JD, but I'd be willing to be he'd do some more too.

Maybe a Song Editor to add Star Power yourself and make your own Star Paths therefore creating a new experiance to playing your faveorite songs.
EDIT: Not built into GuitarZero just a tool that takes midi's and allows you to edit them into making star powah!
EDIT: Just noticed this is completely off topic lol

I have a request, i think is pretty simple and useful maybe someone has allready ask for it (i dont know)
It would be nice if when we unpause the game, we have 1 second o 1.5 second to view the fret... before it really unpause and continue
If you are playing and you have to pause for some reason, then you want to continue... it would be nice to take a look of the situation
Just that. it is not important, buy maybe adding a few lines in the right function we can have this feature.
BTW, great job with this game =)

Actually, this would be a great little fix for the game. You could have that little moment to get your fingers back where they were and look where the notes were.. I think this feature is also in GH's?

EDIT: Just noticed this is completely off topic lol Already exists: www.dotblip.com/feedback/@callisto For the 2d stage support, I'd like some triggers (if they are not already present that is) in the stage2d.xml that let us animate the stages based on the lighting events in chart and midi files. For example, "lighting(blackout)" "lighting(strobe)" and so forth. That would be awesome I can provide some lighting-programmed charts if you like.

ok this is just me throwing this out there but I know everyone wants a campain but instead how about a lock system defined by the user so they can make there own setlists and work through them but thats just me throwing that out there 2 other thing I would like to see is shorter song failed and a restart, practice , quit menu without having to go all the back to the set list to choose the song again to restart or go all the way back to the main menu.

@darthslaw Good idea, I'll try to put these triggers into the game, but they probably won't make it for the very next version!

Hello, Would it be well-designed to add keyboard shortcut in the songs list menu ? I mean some real-time dictionnary song search, depending on letters that user types on his keyboard. Here is the scenario : A user downloaded all packs and songs available on GZ wiki. On file system, he sorted it in few directories : Guitar Hero I, Guitar Hero II, .. He loves Dethlock's Thunderhorse song and ideally, he'd appreciate beeing able to type some letters on keyboard to get the song selected in song list menu, instead of scrolling the mouse all the time. For the moment, I forsee some usage considerations : - Typed letters can conflict with an options keybord configuration. - Dynamic dictionary sort would be dependent on the song sorting strategy (defined in GuitarZ Toolkit for the moment). - Until now, sorting is directory-dependent : If the user songs directory contains GH1 leaf-directory, GH2 leaf-directory and some songs at the same file system level for example, keyboard-typed search couldn't be applied to these 3 files areas at the same time. Maybe it could be smarter to add a floating search bar at the top/bottom of the song list menu, but it would badly-extend the game design (it will more look like a browser or a text-processing application if so). Tell me if my english is not very understandable (I find it cool since you can design your own meaning by inventing appended-words, but maybe it's not possible ).

callisto, can you please, please add drums.ogg support. cama on the fof forums has been posting the song and drum tracks separately for all rb songs and it would be amazing if they played in gz. i'm not asking for drums but just the music track "drums.ogg" to play and to be treated pretty much the exact same way as the rhythm.ogg. but since we won't be playing drums, it can just stay on like a second song.ogg it's be extremely nice for people who play guitar on gz2 and drums on fof
