Hi everyone, I recently tried installing the game on Windows Vista and I though, I might share my experiences with you. To give you the short version: 1.) GuitarStar.exe stopped working If you get this error right after starting the game, download and install the XNA 2 Redistributables from this address: www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=15fb9169-4a25-4dca-bf40-9c497568f102&displaylang=en2). GuitarStar crashed. Cause: System.IO.FileNotFoundException .... [HRESULT: 0x8007007E) The error mentioned above is actually slightly longer, but you get the point. If you get that error, download and run the DirectX Web Installer from this address: www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a33.) Additional Downloads If the two downloads above don't solve your problem, then: - Run Windows Update - Download and install the C++ Redist (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647) It is important to use exactly URLs I provided, because there are different versions of these components floating around. After installing these two items, Guitar Star worked. Bye, Callisto

Just a note, installed Vista and the first 2 downloads and GuitarStar would not run. Downloaded and installed the 3rd one (C++ redist) and kicked right off.

Hmm I followed the instructions in the download thread and I had to install Game Studio. Oh well it didn't do any harm... And shouldn't this be in Tutorials?

mackeliteYou only download the update but did not download the original beta for it. The updates only contain changed files, therefore you need to get: 1. Beta 4 2. Beta 4 Update 4a (or whatever is the latest version) and extract them into the same folder.

Whenever I run Guitar Star, it works fine, but then when I close it I get this weird error message that I cannot run on my desktop.

ledzepp123: after you close it? What does the message say? Post a screenshot of it? Thanks, that should make it easier to see whats wrong.
