incase everyone else was to dumb to figure it out(jk) the way to make tiers in the new guitar star beta is to make seperate folders for the tiers you want like this guitarstar\songs\1. Starting out Small <-- thats the tier name\some song <-- then the name of the song folder\
thats how the hierarchy should be

no you just copy the files and past them into the folder you want them in it goes like this tiername\song folder\(song.dat\notes.mid + .oggs)

ok the notes.mid are frets on fire midis you dont need them but the oggs are the music for the song not notes.ogg it like guitar.ogg and song.ogg you dont need both notes.mid and song.dat but you need at least one and you need at least one of the oggs (sometimes you need two)

If you want to call this a tutorial, there is a wonderful little tool call sequencing. Thats right, could you give us a step by step deal instead of throwing it into a blender, and putting the belnded product in one paragraph?

I think that flipsk8r's paragraph is perfectly clear. But if you want a step by step process here: 1. Make a seperate folder for each tier like this. 1. Starting Out Small. 2. Put the songs in the folder. To order them, put a number at the beginning of the names of each of the song folders. 3. Move the tier folders to %guitarstar%(guitar star directory)/songs 4. Thats it. Learn how to read paragraph tutorials.

My brain works in very different ways then most other people's do, so something that is perfectly clear to you may not be clear to me. Sorry, thats just me:( Also, I'm missing on peice of info. What all do I put in the tier folder, the foler that contains the song.dat file and the ogg files (like guitar zero), just the .dat file, or just through everything in there without a folder

I just like everything to be organized in a nice step by step fashon. Also, I did everything that you said, I start the game, and select GO PLAY and I get an error. Do you know whats up with that?

Did you get all the updates? Install XNA Game Studio 2.0? .NET Framework 2.0? Run the DirectX web installer?

Ok, I tried downloading everything again. I don't get an error message. I just of to input, go to Gamepad 0, then when I go to enter a button, it simply doesn't register. Its odd, its acting like I didn't press a button at all.

Use the Microsoft drivers for your X-Plorer, not the XBCD ones.

Even if you create folders every song you have shows in one big list. Is there a way to have the songs in folders in the game like if FoF? I have to scroll every song I own to get to the last song....

nevermind, i got it. open the mid in anvil and delete everything but guitar. save, not export as format 0. create a song.ini and have song.ogg and guitar.ogg all 4 in same folder. song.ini is just simply this:
[song] name=Cemetary Gates artist=Pantera
in notepad.
substitute pantera and cemetary gates for the respectable artist and song title, and save as song.ini
must put the .ini
Thanks bob78h, appreciate explaining the song.ini

Does anyone know if theres a way to do this with the Folder Option on?..(in beta 2)
Like..
*Folder* Guitar Hero 1 ......> 1. Opening Licks ..............>Song ..............>Song ..............>Song
But not have 1.opening licks as a folder, just have it above the songs. I wanna have all of the GH1 songs in a big list, but have the 1.opening licks stuff in it.
If any of that made sense. Thanks.

Ok well if you do this: Songs GH1 1. Opening Licks Song GH2 1. Opening Licks Song Were GH1 and GH2 are folders in the song folder and the config.xml is set to list, not folder, it will show GH1 and GH2 as folders in the setlist.

nevermind, i got it. open the mid in anvil and delete everything but guitar. save, not export as format 0. I never have to do any Anvil converting to get my midis to work. I can use straight up Guitar Hero midis, and also custom charts, some from my own work and others from ScoreHero (converted to midis via ghex). As for midis downloaded from ScoreHero, I can't really say, since I've either converted to chart for additional editing or gotten rid of it because I didn't like it or couldn't make it work (trying to convert to chart is sometimes a pain; Seems to be a toss up though and you just have to be lucky. I suppose this difficulty might possibly be linked to your problem or something). Which ScoreHero midis were you trying to use (or charts, or whatever it was) that gave you problems?
