wow, nice find. i'm interested to see these tools the professionals use. also, i hope the songs get released for free on rb, otherwise i really don't think they will even stand a chance against all the mainstream bands.

As far as I can tell, it will charge people to download them, as it spoke of the band receiving a cut of each sale.
It sounds like a great idea, and is pretty cool even, but it's too good to be true because the only people who will buy these local bands' songs is locals. =P

Thats not true. Think of somewhere like myspace, new 'local' bands get listened to by all sorts of people and it spreads via word of mouth/reccomendations.
TBH, in this day and age its hard to know if the word local bears any relevance to these kinds of things..

That's not entirely true, anyway. A large portion of my friends are really narrow-minded musically, and if the song isn't played on the radio or popular through some other means it's just not good enough.
Although I wish that there was a way that I could stop that, I'm fairly certain that these local bands would still be limited to a fairly small fan-base.
I will agree that, like MySpace, they will get some popularity with some strangers, they just won't have the power of the popular mainstream bands.
I did just realize that if you were signed up with that program you could play custom songs in RB whenever you wanted though. =P

What. lol thats the opposite of narrow minded musically. Well i guess it is in a sense but narrow minded usually refers to sticking to one genre like metal and not wanting to listen to anything else. where as the radio has lots on genres.. yet all shitty.

Well, I guess I could clarify a bit.
The term "narrow-minded" typically refers to a person who refuses to accept things outside of their view (in this case, popular music).
It contrasts the term "open-minded", which means that the person is open to things which they have not experienced.
So, yes, in the sense that I used it, my friends could be described as narrow-minded.

Well you need an xbox 360 to playtest the tracks. I think I may need to get one just for this purpose since I already have a wii to play rock band on.
