Even so. Alienware is owned by Dell. Dell sucks. Therefore, by transitive property, Alienware = overpriced sh*t.

I'd have to completely disagree with CB in one sense and completely agree in another. First of all, I think Dell has the best quality computers. THere may be computers you can find out there with the same specs for a lower price, but every non-Dell computer I ever had was flimsy. THeir customer support and warranties are also very good. If your looking for a long term, reliable computer that doesn't randomly crash and shut down(Gateway, ASUS) then I'd go with Dell. I just bought a laptop with coincidently will be here in an hour from Dell. I was tempted to get an ASUS, but I heard that there are reasons their prices are lower. Like they aren't as reliable and their customer support isn't as good. My experience with Gateway sucked as my Motherboard melted after two years. Where I agree with CB is Alienware is overpriced. THey are top of the line and kinda are like Gibson with guitars. If you get a lower end one, they will overcharge you for basically just their reputation with their most top of the line gaming computers. However if you are getting a super-gaming rig, they are probably the most reliable to not crash.
Basically Specs+reliablility=money spent. You could get good specs for cheap, but I wouldn't recomend it because you are most likely going to at some time regret it.

Dell sucks!
But before I begin, let me start by saying, Gibson guitars suck! Even expensive ones! They are heavy, wood is way too hydrated, and they break crazy fast. Not to mention that for the price you pay, the tone is not worth it. Your better off buying a different brand, or custom building your own guitar.
Wait a sec, I'm seeing a resemblance. Probably from the fact that Dells suck, even the expensive ones. They are freakin bulky, overfilled with crap software to bog down your performance. They break crazy fast. Not to mention that for the price you pay, the speed and quality is not worth it. Your better off getting a different brand (Asus) or custom building your own.
With what it costs to buy an alienware computer (lets say a cheap one, about $800) You could get an insane gaming computer from tigerdirect. Just order all the parts and piece her together yourself.
Remember, less than 500 bucks nowadays lets you play crysis maxed out.

My dream geetar is a PRS Custom 22 or Modern Eagle II. Though a more intermediate goal of mine is the ESP MH-1000
