So I'm trying to get good studio gear, so I can do some real quality recording. I've got my room soundproofed and a couple condensing microphones, but I want to know what it takes to record my electric guitar through GR3 without hiss and noises. I got some very nice headphones ($130), A Creative Xi-Fi ($50), and a D.I. box ($45) to help get rid of the sounds and ground loop. Despite that it sounds better, theres still a bit of interference.
I'm thinking I need to get a preamp to get rid of the slight hiss and weird occasional noises. I looked at M-Audio fast track pro, think it might do the job, but I don't want to fork out the cash without knowing if it'd work for sure.
Anyone have expirience with preamps?

a good noise gate. either that or configure the noise gate in GR3

The noise gate in GR3 sucks. It cuts out all the static until you start playing, then you can slightly hear it in the tone. If I buy an actual noise gate, would it cure it?

I have the M-Audio Fast Track. I does not do any justice for the static. Try this: The the M-Audio Fast Track Pro does not get rid of the static mic you amp instead of plugging it in directly, or pug you pedal directly into the recording device.
