The only problem I see with adding 8th note = 1(or whatever) to the song.ini files, is that your going to have to actually go in, figure out what songs need it, and add it to all your song.ini files. For me, thats a good bit that I really don't wan't to have to update. I have every GH song(other than gh3 dlc)...every rockband song released so far. FoF Hero, Puppetz Hero 1 and 2. ALL of Puppetz other songs. and a bunch of others. I really don't want to have to go into every song.ini file for EVERY song, and add 8th_note = 1 or 8th_note = 0 to them. :/ check puppetz hero, every ini has 8thnote_hopo = 1 most customs already have the toggle supplied in the ini, we just need to 'edit' 17 of the GH songs like weve said...

But again, we don't even need to have the 8th_note= in the ini unless we're trying to override the default. There's nothing wrong with GZ having a global default in the config.xml, and then checking for a line in the song.ini. If the line isn't there, it can ignore it.

Green Grass and High Tides work perfect but Piece of Mind is totally messed up because of the HO/PO'S :-(

It's not reall the case that the information is already part of the song.ini. It's an optional feature from one of the FoF mods that allows a person to add the line to the song.ini. It isn't required to be there, but if it is the game will operate based on what it says.

dude we already addressed that like five billion times (exaggeration) in the last few update threads. Yes, it is a product of the expiramental whammy effect if your sound card can't handle it, mine can't either. And we also said how to turn it off, there's no reason you should have to stay with beta 4. Sorry to bother again, could you tell me how to turn it off or point me to the post where it is said? I'm trying to find it but i can't. Thanks.

okay i'll just tell you, rather than find the post again...
You go to the main game folder (the folder that has the actual game in it) and find a file called config.xml.
Next you open the file in note pad. Right-click it and click open with. Then selct Notepad or Wordpad in the box that pops up. If this option is not available, go into notepad and open the file up just like any other notepad file.
Finally, you find the part in the file that goes like this:
<PitchShiftingEnabled>true</PitchShiftingEnabled>
and change it to this:
<PitchShiftingEnabled>false</PitchShiftingEnabled>
viola! ;D

Thank you very much for that REALLY DETAILED explanation, but I'm not that fool. Saying "set PitchShiftingEnabled to false in config.xml" would have been enough, but it's ok if you want to be sure that I catch the message. Thanks again.

CJB100 you're too kind...actually, all of you guys in this forum are great. Seems like a more sophisticated crowd here than in FoF forum.

lol 3 things:
1. Thank you! ;D I'm glad you think so. And the others here except maybe R4L and hzac would probably thank you too. The reason i say that is because they're part of the FoF forums. I was too but never really did much of anything and basically left after DS's rock band release mod.
2. Was you're name intentionally funny? I'm sorry if it wasn't but for sum reason i can't stop laughing when i read it.
3. Yah we're only SOPHISTICATED for a little while and the "new-forum" smell wears off... except castillo, he's always cool.

Green Grass and High Tides work perfect but Piece of Mind is totally messed up because of the HO/PO'S :-( Yeah, Green Grass and High Tides sucked before Update 3. Some of the triplets and stuff weren't HO/POs, and it's pretty fast. I like the 8th note HO/POs. I would prefer a value in config.xml about it.

I'm really glad that we can now enter our name after the song is completed !!! Instead of sorting the scores by difficulties byselecting it before the songs list, why don't you just list the top scores for all difficulties in the list ans only ask for the difficulty after the song is selected ? This would be much better I think. Keep up the good work

ok, whoever says that green grass and high tides is BETTER right now in update three, has prolly never finished the song on expert in rockband b4. H8 to tell you guys, but in the game, it's closer to 16th HOPO's. There are a lot of triplets in that song which are not hopo's even in the game. However, it's not really great with either setting, i think it must be set sumwhere in between 16th and 8th or something.
On a side note there might should be an option for no hopo's at all, too, becuz i know Black Hole Sun sux with 8th and 16th hopo's and so do some custom songs. It's rare to get a song like that, but it's very possible, and it's annoying when quite literally every frikin note is a hopo in a song like that.

CJB100Why "fix" the game instead of the song?

If it was just custom songs that were all hopo's even on 16th notes i would, but seeing how i don't hardly play any of the official guitar hero songs a lot, and Black Hole Sun is an official Rock Band Rip, makes me believe that there's most likely a few other guitar hero songs that do the same thing. Which also makes me think maybe there should be like 32nd note hopo's or just no hopo's at all. And some people don't even like playing with hopo's (at least that's how it was in FoF forums while I was there). If I'm wrong and Black Hole Sun is the only ripped song that is nothing but hopo's in the GZ game, then i guess i wuld try and fix it but how do you re-set the tempo in a mid without messing up the notes?
(If you meant the Green Grass and High Tides Song, i just realized how sloppily i wrote that post. What i was trying to say is that in Rock Band, The song is played with about the same amount of hopo's as it is with 16th note hopo's in GZ. Nothing's wrong with that song or the way the game handles it, i just know that half the notes that people are saying should be hopo's aren't in the actual Rock Band game.)

I'm on Callisto's side. it should be the SONG that gets "fixed" not the game itself. Fixing it in the game settings is too broad, while doing something on a song by song basis is more realistic. I'm sure that is how GH and RB was designed. If you play different songs on both games they have hopo's showing in some songs and not in others where the notes are the same or even faster/closer together.
