Hi Everyone, as you can see, this is primarily a "fix-release" that removes a few bugs from the latest beta. I'll hopefully find time to work on a few new features on the weekend. Until then, enjoy a few bugs less. rapidshare.com/files/106217230/GZ_Beta_5_-_Update_1.rarBye, Callisto 25/03/08 - Beta 5 Update 1 - Fixed several sound-system related crashes & bugs - Fixed a bug when loading coop songs that do not contain a separate guitar track - Fixed a possible exception at the end of a Face Off game - Fixed VSYNC=off making the game unbelievable slow for some people - Fixed a bug that caused the menu background sound to play during a song (thanks fude) - Improved beat-lines when using .dat files (they might still be slightly off in some places) (thanks darthslaw)

still play both guitar tracks in singleplayer when they're lead and rhythm they should both only be played when the rhythm.ogg is a bass track. here's an example of Danzig - Mother from gh2 with rhythm.ogg, and as you can hear, it sounds like you hit the notes when you really miss them.. www.mediafire.com/?mxxtwmccz2tEDIT: Still a nice update though

can someone upload the update to an alternative site that does not require the user to wait or has time limits? my internet ISP, as RapidShare FAQ reports, forces all transfers through a "transparant proxy" in which i cannot disable. so even though i have not tried downloading anything from RS recently, they are telling me i have to wait because i am currently downloading a file from them, which i am not.
p.s. callisto, can you include alternative links to Mediafire or some other "free" site for each update? i know it seems like a bother, but im sure other people have this problem too? thanks if u can, ok if u cant.

Cool. The .dat beat lines still aren't perfect, but they are better than they were. Some songs take a good while to significantly fall out of sync (cool's non-GH3 upload of TTFAF for example) while others fall out pretty quickly (GH1's I Love Rock N' Roll). On a further note, I was testing a bit to see how GZ1 would react to changes in the tempo line. It appears that the second field truly doesn't do anything (no changes I make yield any result), and the first field (time in seconds) seems to be disregarded in preference for the third (time in clicks) -- even when the third field contains invalid data, such as a string of characters; GZ just evaluates it to 0; it's quite overly forgiving as far as syntax is concerned, which makes it difficult to make a solid conclusion. Anyway, at this point, I think that only the last two fields (click time and tempo, respectively) are significant, while the first two fields are probably now obsolete (speculation: maybe GZ1 used to use raw times to determine note positions, like Freetar, but later changed to use click times? And the old syntax was carried over for some reason). Hopefully that'll help you hammer out the fret lines a bit more, despite how little there actually is in that mess of words

This is a good update, i love the fact that if I configure my controller, i do not have to restart gz2, it puts the controllers in effect without restarting the game. Thanks for the fixes Callisto.

still play both guitar tracks in singleplayer when they're lead and rhythm they should both only be played when the rhythm.ogg is a bass track. thats not right the rhythm.ogg and guitar.ogg are seperate parts of the song so they should both be played everytime BUT the rythm.ogg should be half volume

this update sounds awesome, i mite be able to play multiplayer now, since the vsynch=slow bug is fixed.
But vista's being an idiot and it won't let me reinstall .Net, so I'll hav to wait fr now.

flipsk8r1409Are you sure about that half volume thing? Actually, rhythm.ogg is already played at 75% of the other track's volume. Are you certain that lowering it to 50% would be the thing to do?

It could also be different from song to song... in Guitar Hero's song.dtb, there is a set of volume parameters for each of the tracks (and for that matter, each individual channel). It's not self-explanatory, so I don't understand how it works. Many of the values are like -3.00000 (then there's also a core parameter that I have no clue what it does, though it may not be related).
After doing some quick research on ScoreHero, I can't seem to dig up anything useful. If I can't find anything, I guess I'll try tinkering with the values for various songs and see what GH2 does.

hmm, that's wierd. but it's very annoyng when you still hear the guitar when you miss a note, which goes for the songs with lead & rhythm tracks...

I always found in all GH's that the bass was only majorly noricable (100% Volume) When someone is actually playing bass (co-op) In single player the bass should be at a lower volume just like rythym. Not to say that louder bass wouldnt sound better im just sayin how GH does it...
