Apparently, .chart files are unaffected by eighthnote_hopo. Is there a way to add support for it?

*WARNING*
Possible immenant massive stupidity
When I run the .exe I get the 'run into a problem, had to close' thing. Is this an update or a full release. If it's an update, where do I get the file that needs to be updated?

You have to download beta 5a and then put update 4a over top. :/

Installed all three of those (Framework, DirectX and C++ redist) and I'm still getting the error above. I'm on XP SP2; Beta 5a update 4a.
Any ideas?

Did you use the directx web installer? Don't use a downloaded version, it's really the web installer that installs the Managed DirectX extensions.

Yeah, I downloaded the web installer and I umm...
Well...
Uh..
You see, I was downloading a lot of updates and I...
I forgot to run the .exe
I'm off to slap myself and then play the game because it works fine now.
D'oh!
edit: Both goals accomplished and to everyone involved a massive round of applause- this game is just awesome. I'll devote some time to making new song material (original compositions and fretting other people's music) for it as a means of thanks.

ok i just moved up from beta 4 to 5 update 4a, and good job! great progress reason being is that ive been busy for a while and havent had time to play/update
but i was playing some songs that i played on 4, and all of the HOPO are gone, making the songs nearly impossible to play is this something i can change? how can i fix this?

you do know we have a hopo tag now dont you? eighthnote_hopo = 1 (0 false 1 true) in the song.ini or hopo_note = (enter a note threshold 8, 16, 32 etc) There is also a way to do this in .dats but i forget now

Do you know how to do it in MIDI (nobody seems to make GZ tunes in a MIDI sequencer except me )?

afraid not no

Post by canped on May 25, 2008 14:20:13 GMT -5
actually, thinking about it I don't think it REALLY matters with MIDI since one-hit notes are always 1/16th beats, so unless you want to hopo from a held note it shouldn't be a problem...
I think...

For midi, add "eighthnote_hopo = 1" in the song.ini file (or "hopo_note = N").
[song] artist = Dethklok name = Thunderhorse eighthnote_hopo = 1
[song] artist = Dick Dale name = Misirlou hopo_note = 64
For dat files, add "<HOPO_NOTE>:N"
<BASE>:SONGS/GH2/monkeywrench/song.ogg <GUITAR>:SONGS/GH2/monkeywrench/guitar.ogg <ARTIST>:Foo Fighters <TRACK>:Monkey Wrench <HOPO_NOTE>:8 <CLICKS>:480 <TIMESIG>:4:4 <TEMPO>:0.000000:1.000000:0:173.500000
For chart files, add "hopo_note = N" in the [Song] section
[Song] { Name = "Where Moth And Rust Destroy" Artist = "Tourniquet" Charter = "darthslaw" Offset = 0.07 Resolution = 192 Player2 = rhythm Difficulty = 0 PreviewStart = 0.00 PreviewEnd = 0.00 Genre = "Metal" MediaType = "cd" MusicStream = "Ogg/wheremothandrustdestroy.ogg" Year = 2003 hopo_note = 8 }

Cheers. That just converts all 8th notes to HOPO, wheras usually it's just 16th notes, right?

you're out already? lucky I have a week of finals left if you're asking about the eightnote_hopo = and hoponote = tags, i don't think so. you only need to add them if they are required to make the hopos correct.

delay = N or delay = -N works in milliseconds
