Would it be possible to get the game running on the 360? I see there would be problems with the audio engine, anything besides that? Think you can release the source code so I can try to get it running on the 360/possibly make some other improvements?

i doubt you'll get the source. the BEST bet you have is for him to build a 360 installer (and yes you can do that) and distribute that. the only issue is that the songs is has have to be added before hand. unless he makes someway to add the songs personally.

Hey with XNA its possible to make it run on the 360, but wait until a final good version is released. After that the source will also come (hopefully). skizot how would the installer thing work?

basically you have to have XNA installed and useable on your system. with it set up to communicate with your 360 you run the installer and it puts everything on your xbox.
you go to the CC on the xbox and run it. viola!

Cause Vista is supposed to be integrateable with all Microsoft devices. But if the device isn't made by Microsoft, no drivers. lol

I activated my free XNA Creator's Club year trial from Dreamspark, I'll probably mess around with some other stuff if he doesn't release the source. Seems to work with Vista (after I disabled all of my other connections). I know it won't work as a .ccgame; looks like you might be able to import the .exe files and such. But he want to work on it by himself?

Yeah he does, at this point in time. He got offended when someone decompiled and posted his source code. That person is no longer on the forums

I hate to state the painfully obvious, but what you all are wanting you won't get on a 360. You can't get licensed songs to be released through the XNA creator's club (and thus will never be able to download it on your 360). That means no customs, and no Guitar Hero songs on the 360.
Then there's the slight issue of it being a Guitar Hero clone, and how to have the game published it needs to be something original. Now I'll be the first to say I love GuitarZero beta4, but it's literally a Guitar Hero clone...

Of course it would never be published by Microsoft, but no XNA Game Studio games are on the 360 anyway. You'd need a Creator's Club membership (normally $99 a year, can get a year free if you're a college student) to actually transfer it.

TeanIt's not as bad as you put it. Actually, everyone could still upload the game on his console himself. In fact, that's what people in Germany are doing anyway, because you can't access the creator's club online from here.

i just read my GameInformer, microsoft is actually planning on uploading indie XNA games for a nominal fee (i think something around 50 bux for 6 months) to play on your xbox, it would be awesome if guitar zero made it on there but then again, the custom songs would be violating the whole "copyright" bull-crap.

if he ever releases the code he should at least wait till its done so we dont have 100 different unfinished versions floating around with different bugs

if he ever releases the code he should at least wait till its done so we dont have 100 different unfinished versions floating around with different bugs yea but C# is pretty easy so it would only take a few min to fix any major bugs...maybe he should just release it to certain people to add/help upgrade the codes

so a private release, to those who have XNA (its actually not quite C#, its based off it though so it's really close). I do have XNA but I havent gotten a chance to learn it, I know a bit of C++ due to my modding days of Starsiege Tribes back when I was like... 12, but it was pretty easy to understand then and I could only do some very basic mods (adding new armors and weapons, changing timings, etc. I couldn't visually change anything though).
Anyone know where I can find tutorials for XNA that arent the video ones? those are all I can find when i google XNA tutorials.

would there be a way to make a 'Community Pack' that includes the final release (stable) and have a large (like 200-300) collection of songs in it? something along the lines of an ISO or such...watever the 360 uses? then there is a stable release that has lots of songs burned to disc directly with it and then no such need for Microsoft crap clubs. just shootin into the dark here, but maybe im close to home?
like i said, im somewhat 360 illiterate...

It's essentially just more .NET Framework library files. Just thought I'd throw that out there...
