ok here is something i just noticed, i was playing Texas Flood and missed only one note. when i finished the song, i chose more stats. there was 100% up til where i missed the note, that secion was 99%. then after that, every 30 second section was labeled 99% instead 100%. only the secion i missed a note on should be label 99%. How did u get to more stats? I cant get to there. :S

I was wondering if there's a way to change the name of the player. If I get a new high score, it puts Player in there, but I'd like to put in my own name. Would that be possible?

It means you need to upgrade your video card.. its too old. you need one that supports pixels shading 2.0

Press Orange at the newspaper screen That doesn't do anything for me. I'm having a few problems that may or may not be guitar star issues: 1) Songs will sometimes start immediately with a yellow note at the very beginning (too quickly to react to, and not part of the music) -- not guitar star, sorry 2) Songs with a song.ini file but without notes.mid crash with the following error: GuitarStar crashed. Cause: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file "<Guitar Star path>\Songs\<folder>\notes.mid" Removing/renaming the song.ini file causes them to play fine. 3) Sometimes (but not always) the songs will be incredibly difficult to hear and be drowned out by crowd noises. I've already turned down the crowd volume in the config file. The actual OGG file volumes for these are fine when viewing with a sound editor (audacity). and a feature request: Allow user to scroll through the setlist by holding down the down/up strum, and make the auto setlist scroll (like when scrolling upwards from the top of the setlist to get to the bottom) faster.

I have the same problem for some custom songs(mostly the ones i made?) and it does the same thing in GZ 1)

If you alt+tab out of the game, then wait a while and go back you get an exception error or something.

akatabraskI'd say that this is just your drivers fancy way of saying "Your graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements". Check if your graphic card supports shader 2.

Turning VSYNC off slows down the menus dramatically. I need to turn it off because it causes some major input lag. And also, can you add support for higher resolutions? I use 1366x768 (720P HDTV) and 800x600 just looks horrible. I'll use 16xAA for now if I can.

Press Orange at the newspaper screen It wont work :S Does it work only whit Guitar? It's the orange fret, whether your using a guitar or a keyboard. If you can hit the orange fret in game and it works, thats the button you use to go to more stats on the newspaper results screen.

EDIT: That was quick, I figured out the problem... In the song.ini file, the person that made it used a strange character for the O (a capital O with 2 dots over it) in Blue Oyster Cult that the game didn't like. Replacing it with a normal O fixed it. Perhaps support for these strange characters can be added sometime in the future. Probably save a little frustration down the line. Here's the post still, for reference sake. Please read the P.S: section of it though. ------------------------------- Sorry for double posting, but I recently noticed another problem. When I try to load the song in Go Play mode, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll by Blue Oyster Cult (one of the songs from GHIII I got from the FoF forums), I get this error: Oddly enough, it works well enough in practice mode, just when I use "Go Play" it doesn't work. Here's the song if you want to try it yourself... www.mediafire.com/?desumy0gtmbP.S: While I'm talking about this song, you said the game had a HO/PO system like Guitar Hero III right? Maybe I read it wrong. Well, this song is a little messed up as huge HO/PO parts don't have any HO/PO's... or very few Don't know if it's the game or the notechart though since it didn't work in FoF either... but FoF was based on GH1 & 2 HO/PO's so it makes sense it wouldn't work in it.

I can use the orange fret fine in game, it just doesn't seem to do anything at the newspaper results screen.

@ dreakon its the note chart not the game i think all he means by hopo system being based of gh3 is that it doesnt care about timing when you hit the notes it will just hit them even if you held it before hand
edit:
by the way you fix your problem by lowering the beats per minute using a song editor like the one in fof

Wouldn't lowering the BPM kind of mess up the sync? Oh well, its not really a problem with the game then. No need to discuss it further. Thanks for the info.

Wouldn't lowering the BPM kind of mess up the sync? no, your thinking of the tempo of the song. lowering the bpm will make more notes ho/po-able

dreakon and everybody with unknown character crashes I had the same problem with an unknown character in the name of the subfolder with the song. This caused GS to crash when I scrolled down to the first song in that folder. However, that wasn't the song/folder with the invalid character! GS seems to read all information in that folder at once and then choked on it. Even though I couldn't scroll down or select the first song, I had to fix the character in the folder name of the fifth song to stop it crashing. So if you get an unknown character crash, check and fix all names in that folder, not only the first one where GS crashes.

It wont work :S Does it work only whit Guitar? It's the orange fret, whether your using a guitar or a keyboard. If you can hit the orange fret in game and it works, thats the button you use to go to more stats on the newspaper results screen. .... Like i said id wont work on me. The orange fret button works on game but still it wont go to more stats... What do i have to do?!

I read that changing the config file to change the sorting of the songs.
If I remember correctly, it was a tag like <songlist>list<songlist>. If the "list" in the middle was changed to "folders" it would allow you to browse folders and seeing as I have the full GH1/2/3/80s songpack, browsing this way would be much better.
I saw 1 or 2 other posts with my same problem: Each individual song is in its own folder inside the seperate GH1, GH2, etc folders. I think that the subfolders are what cause the problem and the game to crash via this view.
Any info on this? Thanks for the help.
