so how do you like it? so basically the green blocks are like a rock meter green and active mean good, red and slow mean bad, the life line is starpower the length indicates the amt and the "heart beat" just starts going after you have enough of it. on the other side you can see that for the multiplier I used a guitar knob that goes to 11

I dont understand. Are you making it? Asking someone to make it? Or just asking us if it looks pretty?

Or just asking us if it looks pretty? looks like he's presenting us with an idea to get us away from the look and feel of guitar hero... i think it's actually a really cool idea. the bar could even indicate the crowds reaction, loud and active being cheering while quite and dead obviously means the crowd is too busy throwing stuff at you to say anything XD

yes that is my point, I have no idea how to code (yet) and I thought this would get away from the guitar hero idea. however I'm still debating on what the frets should look like Just had an idea how about something like inlaid into the fret board and a trapezoid shape, like this

another way to get around the look is to switch up the colors of the frets. every guitar game has the same color scheme (g r y b o)

... to match the colors on the guitar.

I love the idea, the heartbeat thing is cool. Only thing I wouldn't like is inlays on the fretboard.
I'd like to have this as more of a rockband clone than a GH clone, I recent;y played RB2 and fell in love with it when I played "Peace sells"

rb2 owns all gh games, especially the ones activision made. rb2 even owns the original rb on the ps2 and wii.

Amen to that! and a merry Xmas! Updateyet another idea, for the solo phases basically it would look smiler to this but with a twist, instead of "just hit anything" you could have a solo phase where they can hit green once or twice when the green bar like above comes down then a different color bar will start to come down and then they can hit that one as man times as they want, so it more like a solo.

I understand it, and the ideas are great and all, but noones gonna do it lol. A lot of work at the moment, and our coder isnt even here!

No offense but this thread looks like the aftermath of someone going graffiti crazy with MS Paint. Clean up the graphics a little bit to better visualize your ideas?

we should do the game in 3d. that would be awesome to have all those notes be flying at your face. thats a million dollar idea right there

I personally don't think that would be too bad of an idea. Nvidia is already ahead of you on that actually ( see here). And it wouldn't actually be too hard to implement; you could have it as an option. All you would need is a post processing effect that takes the z-value and coordinates it with the distance between the colorized images generated (3d glasses work by combining 2 instances of the same image in different colors). There's probly already a free one out there.

Well at least it would be diferent than gh, it would just be plain hilarius to see activisions lawyers faces if we gave them gz in 3d, how could they say its to similar to gh then. ;D

The heartbeat thing shouldn't be difficult to code; the files already contain BPM and time signiture information. Its just a matter of getting that information to trigger the animation.

Personally, i think the heartbeat looks better on paper than it actually would turn out..
My favourite meter layout i've seen this far is the GHWT multiplier meter tilted next to the fretboard. That's a kind of melding i find a thing of beauty somehow. The starpower meter behind the frets in RB works and looks nice, too.. Talking about ugly ones, GHWT has got it too: the actual meter including the failing needle and the score is such a lump of unstylishness.
