I know this has been mentioned before, but I'd like to make sure it wasn't buried under a pile of requests: could you please make it so the game doesn't tilt the rock/score meters. That would be super-dooper mega awesome. That is all! I'd also like the eighthnote beatline.

I'm actually considering to switch to Rockband-style meters... What do you think?

@callisto: i think having the meters more flexible like the rest of the textures would be nice, being able to move them in the menus.xml. Also, maybe having something in the config.xml to switch from Rock Band, GZ, or any other style meters would also be cool........keep up the great work though

I dont really have a problem with the meter. But regarding to the RB meter, i like the classic guitar hero meter myself.

I'd say just give the option to change each meter's x/y coordinates and possibly give them more states.

noamattdUnfortunately, that won't help when trying to build a RB meter. I'm actually still more in favor of the RB meters by now - especially as they go much more nicely with the idea of having "band multiplayer".

@callisto - I guess I'm not familiar with how the meters work, then? I thought they were just static images with X number of states that get rotated in as energy goes up/down. If that's not the case I'd say go for the RB meters Are you going to do RB-style individual starpower meters too?

here is my idea on the rock band meter like meters, have them but also allow users to chose if they want gh like meters.

Hmpf...saying that people should be able to choose is always the easy way out (from the perspective of taking a decision), but it's a puts all the work on me and I think I can spend that time better on other parts of GZ.
I don't think that you understand the problem with the GH-style meters yet. Imagine having multiplayer with 4 players (2x guitar, drums, mic): How do you expect the GH meters to display how everyone is doing? With the RB meters, that comes quite natural. That's why I'm thinking about switching to their graphical style.

I personally think RB meters simply are necessary as callisto is saying, there is no need for gh style meters anymore. however, we can already change the way the meters look by just changing the images. so why not just have the positions of the meters changeable in like a meters.xml or something similar, or maybe in the menus.xml? you could just have a position for the rock meter and score meter, then use the variables given to position every object having to do with the meters moved to that location. EX:
We could use a code like this with the current GH style Rock Meter. It might not help us later, but it should get my point across.
<rockmeterxposition>0.7</rockmeterxposition> <rockmeteryposition>0.9</rockmeterypostion>
Then because the rock meter is made up of four or five parts (the arrow, the bg, the rock texts, the glow parts, & the base) you have all those parts positioned relative to (0.7, 0.9) (just a random number i made up, idk if it would even work). So the bg image and the base would be at exactly (0.7, 0.9), since the arrow is centered horizontally with the meter and might be slightly raised it would be at mayber (0.75, 0.89) or something similar. Then the rock texts are also centered horizontally with the meter, and are raised to be almost vertically centered also, so it would be (0.75, 0.85), and finally the glows would be centered horizontally and are near the top of the meter, so it might be something like (0.75, 0.8). So when you write a code for this, just basically tell the program to:
Position the bg of the rock meter at the given (x, y) coordinate, then put the glows at (x+0.05, y-0.1), put the rock texts at (x+0.05, y-0.05) then draw the arrow at (x+0.05, y-0.01), then finally draw the base at (x, y).
This way the player or modder only has to enter in one value for the position of the rock meter, but the whole thing is moved instead of one little part. (I'm sure you had this all figured out, but i just wanted to know why it is a problem, because, although it sounds easy here, it probably isn't when you have to program it in.)

ya i know what your saying, however im saying maby for guitar alone game play or something its really up to you. agree! because if you change the way that the meters are, ALL the mods will get outdated, they maybe will not look good with rockband style meters and the most common mod (GH3) will be "ruined"...no offense.. maybe a guitar alone (GH1,2,3) and a band style (Rockband) gameplay like options should be great! (obviusly you will not be able to play drums or vocals with the guitar alone style)that for mods and for the people that dont enjoys the rockband style.. or maybe we should leave the Guitar alone style (GH's) (ignore gh4) for a new source code moder (if its released when the game is complete)

all the mods WILL GET OUTDATED no matterwhat about the rockband style meters... well im pretty sure they will be necesary since u developing the band idea just as you said, i know u dont like too much making optional stuff so it would be better to have a xml file so we (the modders) can move around the meters textures and create meters for each mod guys remember that GH4 is coming and it will have the same layout than rock band.... also i think it would be better to use the GH4 meters since they still use an arrow for the rockmeter here are some detailed screenss xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14222045/guitar-hero-world-tour----band-kit/images/guitar-hero-world-tour-20080820112313843.html
