I was hoping Callisto might be so kind as to give us an idea of where he sees the game going in the future, and especially what he already plans for upcoming releases. Also, having this in one place would make it much easier to see if he took our idea from the Request thread, because right now we have no idea if what we suggested was taken and is planned, rejected, or just got skipped over.
Next Release - Stage Support - GH3 like Rock Meter
Eventually - Star Power Meter - Note Streak - other things I can't think of because I'm tired...
Also, I can understand why Callisto may not want to do this also. Imagine if he decides to not implement a specific change in the next release as he planned, but postpone it (perhaps indefinately) then the person who wanted that feature starts throwing a fit in that thread. This could be fixed by only allowing Callisto to post in that thread, and all input questions and whatnot either go in another thread, or the current "Requests" thread.
P.S. @callisto - Wonderful game, I can't say thanks enough! So...thanks...again!

I'd like to see this, too. It doesn't have to be set in stone, and if someone starts whining, they will be told to suck it. It's not like everyone's gonna get their requests anyways.
But, there hasn't been anything going on with GZ for a while, and it'd be nice to have a running checklist to see what callisto actually plans to implement and what he doesn't.

callisto works at his own pace, things come up, if he sets deadlines/"guidelines" people will be disappointed, etc. if he puts them up or doesnt, it won't change the date they come out. so just be happy with what you got and be surprised when new stuff comes up

Just so we're clear, I never asked for a "timeline" just a "Roadmap". I don't particular care (or want for that matter) dates on upcoming releases, I would just like to know what is already planned and tentatively which release it's planned for. Perhaps completely non-commital type dates would be cool too. (e.g. I foresee in a year to be able to have complete online play and character creation....) something like that, nothing that we'd set a reminder in our email that exactly one year from now start bitching that it's not done.
Perhaps I'm just inpatient because there really hasn't been a major update since I've joined up. That and I see a whole bunch of requests and have no idea which ones Callisto saw and said..."ya know, that's a really cool idea, I will do that someday."

derelict68Actually, the process is pretty much random. I do have a sufficient amount of work besides GZ and therefore, I sit down to work on GZ whenever one of the following happens: 1. I see a great piece of art and want to do something to get it into the game somewhere. 2. Someone comes up with a really good idea and I want to put it in. 3. I just get a craving for programming, sit down and do something. However, with all three possibilities, the feature I'm working on is rather random. I also do have a lot of half-finished features that do work, but require some art or whatever to enable them. Bottom line: It's really hard to say what I'll be working on in the future. There are a lot of great ideas out there, but implementation order doesn't really depend on the idea, but on how well it is prepared (graphics etc.) and presented Bye, Callisto

@callisto - Thanks! I hope the stage support is going well, since I believe that would be the current project you're working on. What would be nice is some sort of forum plug in that monitors which section of the code you last modified, and post it automatically. You know, like the "Derelict68 is currently listening to 'Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses'" it would be "Callisto is currently working on 'Note Windows'"
DISCLAIMER - In case somebody actually reads that as a real request, it wasn't. I don't need to hear the response of "You know, that would be a hard feature to implement and would take away from time that would be spent doing other things."

Yeah callisto if art is the only thing you need, why don't YOU make a request thread list out what you want? There seems to be no shortage of modelers/artists around here, I'm sure you'd be swamped with submissions in no time. Then you could check a whole bunch of stuff off the "to-do" list, and we all know how much fun that is

Well, what I'd be looking for at the moment is: - 3D models (stages, players etc.) - possibly even animated - 2D menu art for replacing the default menu with something pretty - 2D stage graphics incl. animations (there's already a separate thread on that) - A rock meter that includes a starpower display (and the respective starpower overlay). Note that I'm not looking for one that is ripped from the GH games, but rather one that someone created himself.

... so it can't be a circle... or a rectangle/square?.. and it can't be a line then do to beat mania. So what's it gonna be? a triangle?
Why not make it a hexagon? That's close to a circle, but technicly not a circle? xD
I guess a name change aint bad then, since this isn't guitar zero anymore, seeing as GZ was original a clone of GH

Surely for the menu art and posiibly even the stages etc... dontwe need the name to be officially confirmed callisto? Its pretty obvious that GuitarZ has won it but if its officially stated as such then maybe more people will start on making these things for you? Just a thought...

yea! castillo posted something for the first time in a while!
lol.
but srsly, i might could do something for the menus, but i'm sure someone else could do it better. i'm kinda good with general ideas and themes, but not the process of actually making stuff.
iamsensay. need to talk to you on xfire in about 2 days. bout the wiki.
