I don't know if I'm at the good place to post this ... by the way here is my idea:
So for a career mod you can make a thing that divided the number of current song for it equal for 8 pack of song.
Ex: I have 40 song in my song directories. Gz can divide it by 8 to make it have 5 song by pack. Then when i pass 5 song i can go to the next song pack till i finish the career. And as we add more song, gz continue to divided it.
I don't know if that can work but tell me what you think about it!
p.s. Sorry for my bad English.... im a French ...

Um, why have the game divide the songs? Why not just divide them yourself in folders?
Then you can just put those songs in the a folder called "Career Mode" or something, and have those songs play through the Career Mode. Maybe have folders like..
Carrer Mode ---Career Mode 1 ------Tier 1 ----------Song - Artist -------------song.ogg -------------guitar.ogg -------------song.ini -------------notes.mid ----------Song - Artist ----------Song - Artist ------Tier 2 ----------Song - Artist ---Career Mode 2 ------Tier 1 ----------Song - Artist
etc.

Yeah seem to be a good idea... but i can access to the other song no? I talk about a true career mod that you need to play some song before being able to play next pack of song.
By the way, thanks, i will use the method you told me to do...
Oh and do you know how to reset score and stars?
Thanks!

You could delete the score.xml file in the songs folder. I think.
Also, my idea was for making your own Career mode, out of songs you download, so of corse you could play them anyway. Or you could just "pretend" they're locked, and not play them till you beat the tier before. Like, Just not play tier 2 until you complete tier 1. .. That's what I usually do when I get things like FoF Hero, and Puppetz Hero 1/2 and such.

But don't forget that in the career mode there has to be some sort of story and like if you don't play a song you can't play the next one etc.

This is difficult because there is no song pack release equal for everyone, i mean, maybe you can have only guitar hero "original" songs, but someone else have only custom songs and another have both, custom and GH.
I think a good idea is that the folders you add to play in career mode are the ones you are going to use. BUT this will create another issue, how many folders do you need to make a complete career mode? Because you can simply add all your folders.. :S
I think, that at least someone make a career mode for everyone, with especific song packs and tiers, will be pointless to do it implement this. Beside the whole idea of career mode is to unlock songs and other features we don`t have here. For me, is better that callisto works in the develop of things like graphics or playability and then move on about new options and features equal to GH.

i don't rele care about graphics as long as the game WORKS. all the bugs should be taken care of first. then graphics and extra functions could come in second.
and doing career mode might not be as hard as you think. in essence we could just have a file that has a list of the songs that can be played, then when those songs are completed (aka have a score.xml file in their corrosponding folders, which basically means the song has to have been beaten once) then there is another group of songs in the file that can be played. so on and so forth.
and b4 we get into too much detail here, i just want to say, it's good to give criticism and praise and hand out creative ideas, but let's not forget. CASTILLO is the head of the project here, and he's doing a gr8 job, k?
