If this is hurting some other project, so be it. If ******** users can't find a way to get certain songs working for their program that's their problem

lol cant remember where i saw this but i think it was on someones sig... 'Fighting on the internet is a lot like the special olympics. You may win but your both still retards' Think thats appropriate here?
thats retarded, why dont they just put the oggs in there. they litterally need the copy? or its iileagal? whats the deal with being leagal? this game completley rips off guitar hero the whole game is a copyright rip who gives a crap.
im probly better tahn u i 5 star all songs on gh3 (not bonus)
The difference is that we didn't compose the music files ourselves -- the respective music artists did.
Callisto developed Guitar Zero/Star on his own, and it does not, in and of itself, use any Guitar Hero (or otherwise copyrighted) resources. I'm not well versed in law, but just because GZ imitates something else doesn't automatically make it equally as illegal as uploading copyrighted songs.
Personally, if i have to manually add a few oggs. perhapes tweak some timings on songs i dont give a crap. Still beats the extortianate amount we are charged for the few 'licensed' songs that are publically available for GH or RB. And darthslaw you are indeed correct. As a standalone game there are no legal breaches. Also why the GH3 mod will NEVER be used as standard in the game. Yeah we all know most people will use it but at least the legal responsibility falls to US rather then the developer.
I guess. And its kinda good publicity. Except the people that make or play the songs in the first place, if they get into the music and discover new artists or songs that they really like whats the chances of that leading to album sales? Or just a few extra torrents being downloaded hmm? If not the artist themselves then the record companies at least would not see this as good publicity. Im not an advocate either way here im just sayin it how i see it.

Lucky me, I have most of the songs here (MOST, not all) in my collection.
Which leads me to take note that, while called Rock the 70s, much of this isn't from the 70s at all. In fact, a lot of this is from the early to late 80s, or late 60s. Some good music on it, yes, but not much of that is actually 70s, I'd say average one song per set is from the 70s, some have 2.
As to the above discussion on the legality of using the music here, I don't see how they would mind, unless they and/or the labels honestly and throughly are paranoid enough to search the entire internet on the off chance that they MIGHT find somewhere to pick a fight.
It's just one of those things where, while the risk is low, the consequences could be costly, and whether you take that risk depends on how comfortable you are with it.
