So I run the midiconverter to convert the notes files into guitar zero format, but when I try playing the song, the notes only play through the first 18-30 seconds of the song, and not the rest. What I mean by that is only the first part of the song is actually playable, and the rest is just a blank fret board until the song is over.
What am I doing wrong? It also doesn't seem to do it to all of the songs, just most of them.

You don't need to convert .mid files with any iof the new versions. Get the latest version of the game

Open the midi in Anvil Studio, remove all tracks except for the guitar track, then export as a midi format 0 midi file.
But, as canped has said, you don't need to do this for the new Guitar Zero (GuitarStar.exe) since it can read midi files already (just have the midi and ini files in the same directory, named notes.mid and song.ini). The original Guitar Zero on the other hand can only read .dat files, so the only time you should be converting to .dat is if you're trying to play the song in the original GZ
song.ini can be edited with any text editor and has the following basic content format:
[song] name = <name of song> artist = <artist of song>
There are some other tags you can add, but those are the only two required ones.
