Ok... Ive seen one post about sorting songs by doing this: "open config.xml and set 'sortsetlistby' to <SortSetlistBy>Directory</SortSetlistBy>", but I'm not sure that's the answer I'm looking for. (What exactly does that do anyway?)
Is there a way to specify a specific order of songs to appear?
I'd like to be able to group songs however I want. Say I have 3 favorite songs I want at the top of the list, or I want to put my favorite songs in a specific order...
Thanks for any help.

I found that it reads them by alphabetical order. That's the way all of my songs are in. If you want them in different places, you can put them in different folders or put a letter or number before the name of the song to put it in order.

I do have a question to add to this, though. Is it possible to assign different directories to different fret buttons on the guitar. Like in Guitar Hero for the console gamers you can press green for setlist and yellow for downloaded content, or whatever.

that's probably a developer question. Maybe a place around here to suggest new features. That would be a nice addition.

And as far as song orders goes, mine are alphabetical, too. I guess I'll Just nest them in folders till they're kind-of arranged. Thanks

(What exactly does that do anyway?) Yes, that was me. Let me specify some more: There are three different ways to sort songs in the setlist: "Title", "Artist" and "Directory". The first two values, "Title" and "Artist", arranges the songs by the information they find from song.ini files. The third, "Directory", arranges the songs in the same order how they are placed in GZ/Songs directory. That is a good choice when you have for ex. numbers in the directories' names already, like in most GH/RB rips you can find here or FOF forums.

So....
If I understand correctly, I have 2 options.
1. Add a number in the folder name for each song, in effect numbering the order.
2. Edit the song name in each song.ini to have a number in front of each of those.
But wouldn't putting a number in the song.ini file mean all those numbers will appear in my setlist?
Ok....I think I've got the "Copycat" answer, too. Guitar Hero looks like each "group" is numbered, and the 4 or 5 songs within the group are arranged in some "preset" order.
To get this effect, I'd have to have my "GH" directory, then numbered subdirectories for the groups, and finally numbered folders for each individual song? I think this should work....
Is that correct?
