I decided to write a quick tutorial to help everyone thats confused about adding stages to the new GuitarStar or GZ Beta 6. I might post a video on you-tube to go along with this tutorial.
Installing The Stage
First off you need to find a stage to use. I posted a stage in this thread which you can download to use. www.guitarzero2.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=20modpacks&action=display&thread=1632
If your stage is in a .rar or .zip file you need to download WinRar to open this type of file. You can download WinRar for free here
www.rarsoft.com/download.htm
Now you need to open the file that contains your stage. Inside you'll find a folder called Resources.
You need to extract the Resources folder to your GZ Beta 6 base folder. This is the one that contains the Resources folder you'll be overwriting when you extract the Resources folder from your .zip or .rar file. Make sure to back-up your old Resources folder in case anything goes wrong.
Once you extract the resources folder to your GZ Beta 6 folder then you're probably done. You can load GZ play a song and see if your stage works.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Making A Simple Stage
I just recently learned a very simple way to make a non-animated stage.
You find a picture you want to use as your stage, rename this picture to StageBackground. Copy that picture to your /GZ Beta 6/Resources/textures folder. This replaces the StageBackground picture already in that folder with the one you want to use.
Now open the config.xml in notepad. The config.xml file can be found in the GZ base folder /GZ Beta 6.
Find the line-
<Stage>Animated2D</Stage>
and replace it with-
<Stage>Image</Stage>
This will make you use the StageBackground image as your stage instead of the files inside of the Stage2D folder.
Now save the config.xml and your done.
I want to give thanks to eterno_x for posting this is rocker12's help thread.
Trouble Shooting
If you get an error it might for one simple problem. Since the new GZ Beta 6 Update 1 was released you might have an out of date stage2d.xml file. If you're using GZ Beta 6 Update 1 you might want to try the following.
You can either find an updated version of the stage or you can fix the stage2d.xml yourself.
Fixing the stage2d.xml is simple, although you want to backup the stage2d.xml. First off you want to open your stage2d.xml file which is found in either
OLD GZ BETA 6
/GZ Beta 6/Resources/
Update 1
/GZ Beta 6 Update 1/Resources/
Open your stage2d.xml with notepad, you want to change "SavedTrigger" to "trigger" and "StageDefinition" to "stage"
and save the file.
For example
<SavedTrigger xsi:type="BeatTrigger">
must be changed to-
<trigger xsi:type="BeatTrigger">
and
<StageDefinition xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
must be changed to
<stage xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
