if the covers are cool, i tend to like them.
for example, Killswitch engage did a Holy Diver cover, and i freaking love it.
so, yes, yes i do.

I think covers are great, but there are far too many haters that flame people who dont make there own music. I figure if your good enough to play what the original band can, why not play it?

It depends on the cover frankly. I hate artists who cover a song and it is nearly exactly the same as the original. It is my firm beleif that a cover should bring something new to the table. A punk rock cover of a punk rock song is boring to me and lame.
I'll list my favorite covers and you'll get the idea of what I mean by bringing something new to the table.
The Gary Joules cover of Mad World originally written by Tears for Fears (the Joules version in my opinion is better than the original, but I still love both)
The Red Paintings cover of "Mercy Seat" Originally written by Johnny Cash
The Scissor Sisters Cover of "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Flloyd (The original is better, but I respect the Scissor Sister for putting there necks out there with this gutsy rendition)
The Blind Guardian Cover of Mr. Sandman is fantastic.
These are a few, covers that I love, if you notice none of them sound anywhere near the same as the original. Sure you can reckognize a certain riff, or the chorus is sang to the sam general beat, but they aren't a splitting image.

And if you're gonna call something a "Cover" then I'd expect to see: A drummer, bassist, guitarist, vocals, [and/or] rhythm guitarist, [and/or] backing vocals.
If one of them is out of tune, or sucks, they shouldn't try to cover it until the out of tune/sucky person gets in tune/better.
Other than that Covers are pretty cool. [The greatest cover artist right now is Apocalypta(or whatever) who does Metallica covers on the older instruments, rather than new.]

I tend to enjoy covers in general. Of course, there are a few bad ones, but I very much find that there are a lot more bad original songs than covers.

Covers are mostly good. That is, if you never heard the original. Then no.
