Nice! Just a thing is that the GH3 ones seem to be thicker?

Yeah second ones look great! There seems to be something wrong with the color but I can't figure it out...

well ill give you the fact they look better than mine but the actual gh3 notes are 2d planes textured with a .png image its the only way to achieve the hammer-on/pull-off effect on the heads of the notes

i know that i know that but it wasnt my plan to make glowing hoppo notes

wow, nice job. but just to be picky, it seems that the green part of the green note is "falling" down on the right side.. maybe also a bit on the red, but the yellow, blue and orange looks awsome ;-)

Whew, they look really good. BTW: Just to clear up a common misconception: Couldn't you just make a note model that consists of a textured plane and use that in GZ, if you really wanted 2D notes?

@ callisto. Yes, I don't know much about 3d modeling, but that sounds like it would work. It wouldn't work for the Star Power notes however, since they still spin. Just wondering. Does texture plains allow for animated things? Like an animated texture? That way you could turn off the note spin on SP, make an animated texture plain..thing...And still have nice spinning Star Power notes. Just wondering

when i ripped gh3 notes i thought the star notes are 3d but the are 2d... the made the spinning notes in stages like this
. o O o .
xD little note bigger note biggest note ... blablabla
thats what i mean with stages

Just to clear up a common misconception: Couldn't you just make a note model that consists of a textured plane and use that in GZ, if you really wanted 2D notes? Sort of. I've been unable to get alpha effects for textures working in game, for instance.

yeah the alpha maps wont work in game

oh...well, if that is of serious interest, I might be able to fix it.

If anyone wants assistance with the 2d-notes gh3 notes, i might be able to get it working.
I figure all it would take is cutting a plane to the shape of the note, then changing the UV map to where it lines up right.
What 3d programs are you using?

I'm using 3ds max, but that won't work for what I want to do (the hammer on notes, for instance, have a glow effect, that can't be cut out).

Try creating a small omniscent light on the top of the note, and make the intensity low so it doesn't shine further than a inch, then use atmospheric effects to make the glow. Would GZ support all that? EDIT I Apologize for over using the master chief, but i made a quick render of the effect using the glow atmospheric effect combined with little volumetric lighting. Is this the type of effect you would be looking for?

well i can officially say the lighting in 3ds max does not work in gz at least not on the notes

And how about atmospheric effects? Try making a dummy rather than a light, and then give it a glow effect and see if that would work.

well thats what i did it just wont show up in game really i didnt think it would as that would require extra code that would be unnecessary

I've seen a couple posts about using 2d texutred notes, so heres a simple solution. add the glow effect then in 3dmax, then just render the note with the glow, and use that as the texture for the note.

cool dude think about what your saying man that would leave us with the same problem weve had needing them to be alpha mapped in game or if we tried to uv map and cut the plain(ive tried before didnt work well) we wouldnt be able to cut out the head of the hopos we already have a texture with a glow anyway but we need it to be alpha mapped in game
