Frontman is a great game and engine, but there is basically 1 obscure problem with it.
During a run, the game runs at around 300fps and uses 100% of my 2GHz dual core CPU thus causing a bit of a lag and the by-product of this is the impossibility to properly record a run, because the screen / game recorders down-limit the fps to, usually, 30fps.
Why does the game run at so high FPS and why is it so CPU heavy?
And is there a proper way to record it (in HD of course)?
edit: And if you were wondering, I have Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 overclocked graphics card.
edit2: I would also like to add, that my PC is capable of running Crysis on High settings, FEAR and Dead Space on maximum settings and even capable of running GH3 just fine (all of them without lag with the aforementioned quality settings), but Frontman lags, uses 100% of my CPU and runs at very high FPS. Tweak the engine a bit, why not make it run at constant, say 60FPS, no more lag and 100% CPU usage.
I'll be upgrading my CPU to AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition (3GHz), so we'll see then how much CPU it uses, but anyway, the screen recording would be nice to have figured out.

I've used Fraps for recording and using its own framerate lock I've had no problems whatsoever. Assuming you have different software I'd suggest you to find a similar option. Even though the game runs in high framerate it won't be a problem with the framerate lock at least in the case of using Fraps.
To record HD - even the lower 720p quality - you'll need much more power than 2Ghz Dual. I have the similar one and it can only record 1280x720 around 40-45 frames per second. The amd you're talking about may handle it in proper 60 fps.

Another useful thing to do in the short term is to set the prioritys of your recording software and game thus:
Frontman: High
Screen Capture Software: Very High.
This ensures that your recording program gets the most system resources first and foremost, and the game should pick up anything thats left over. This works fine for me but you may wish to reverse the prioritys with frontman taking the very high slot. Whichever works for you
EDIT: I can record HD (720p) on a 2.7 ghz amd dual clocked at 3.2ghz

To add: if Frontman is taking 100%, you could change it to use only one core. Open task manager, find guitarstar.exe, right click -> change affinity. that will make it use 50% max.
