Hi everyone. I used to play with Guitar Zero Beta 5.4a perfectly on my PC with a Radeon 9250 card. Now I'm trying Frontman but on Quickplay option the screen freezes after i choose the song (background sound still going on). On tutorial and multiplayer options it shows something like this: "GuitarStar crashed. Cause: System.ArgumentException: The graphics card does not support mipmap textures. Specify 1 for the number of levels." Do i need more video resources to run Frontman now? is there something i can configure? Thanks

Hello. The error message is self-explanatory, your card doesn't support mipmap textures. Don't ask me what they are, but I may know the solution to your problem. You see, there's a file called config.xml in your main directory of Frontman. Open it with notepad and find a line "<MipMapping>true</MipMapping>". Default value is 'true', change it to 'false', save the file and try to run the game again. If you have made some personal changes in this file before, I suggest you to make a copy of it, because if something goes wrong, the game will reset this file in its default settings. And check out this tutorial for using config.xml, it may come in handy later on. frontman.wikidot.com/gettingstarted#toc3

Oh, i thought you gave it just because of a random reason. Well, you got yourself a exalt back, just make up a reason for yourself why you deserved it.

Thanks fude for your quick response. I looked for the <MipMapping> value but this is "false" already. :S Any other suggestions?

Well, next coming in mind is to try different notes in-game. I assume you still use default notes? Please do a little test and download a modpack from Frontman Wiki. Usually they have custom-made notes and also a lower threshold when it comes to graphics support for older cards.
This is a pure guess but worth a try. I feel like this hint of mine was relevant to a different kind of error, maybe something to do with shaders support.

yes, basically, the notes help with shaders, although it might possibly affect mipmapping also.
mipmapping has to do with loading textures into ram on the fly. i could give you an exact definition but all in all that's more or less what goes on. (that's also all i can remember about it at the moment).
if mipmapping is false, there should be no reason the game shouldn't work. are you getting a different error message now that you changed the settings or is it the same one? i'm guessing it's the latter, right?
regardless, you should still try a few mods; they do seem to magically fix things every once in a while.
