I actually hook my keyboard to my computer and record with session. It takes audio samples when recording. My keyboard is pretty cheep so your guesses are quite legit.

actually it's not bad, i do the same, but i use electric guitar for guitar sounds in my recordings. i can plug in my keyboard, electric guitar, and electonic drumkit (when i get it soon) straight to the mic jack on my computer, then record it with my MAGIX Music Maker. and i have a semi-nice mic, so i record vocals too. MAGIX is basically a recording studio and a guitar foot pedal, lol. it has different fx i can use on my guitar, and i can add in realistic (enough) sounding reverb and echo fx to everything i record. so there is nothing wrong at all with the way you are recording. but as you have said, if you wanna get srs, get a better keyboard.

If the keyboard has MIDI he just needs a VST host- MIDI isn't sound, it just triggers sound.
The song... well, the timing on the part you plaed over the pre-recorded backing track (far as I can can tell) is way off, so it wouldn't work in GZ. The Blues is all about soul (so is Soul, by the way- two things can be about soul) and a machine-made track with a dodgey lead part definitly does not. I dunno, I think you should abandon this one and rethink how you want to make music because this isn't it. Sorry.

i just listened to the lyrics, and you might wanna tell the lyricist to come up with some better lyrics, they're a bit cliche and truthfully don't go with the music that well. canped: that was a bit harsh, i mean, it's not grand, but it's certainly a good starting point.

Its a universal starting point; and its facing the wrong way.
I checked out your website and you've probably got an OK ear for music and your keyboard playing has potential but this is not the way to progress. Get some real sequencing software and a VST army, spend some time learning to use it all to get ideas from your head to your ears and please don't try to play electronic music with feeling because it isn't ever going to be there. It can evoke feeling but it will never be inherant.

Thanks for the advice. I improvised the lyrics so I didn't expect them to be good. I'm more of a fusion player though. I should get me clarinet out though if I'm doing jazz/rock sub genres.
