themagicianyou need to edit the .mid file in anvil and either: delete the track that is not TRACK1, rename TRACK1 to TRACK GUITAR, or you can delete any track other than TRACK1 and then convert the mid to .dat.... hope ive helped themagicianIt means one of your songs seems to be broken. Is it possible for you to extract the track and send the .mid file to me? The thing is, it doesn't happen every time. It's always a random song where it crashes. And I have nearly 1000 songs in the game, how would I know which one it is?

@callisto i seem to be having 2 different problems, one in training mode, while the other occurs on the song list: www.mediafire.com/?0ngmmzfv0gtthis song displays the genre and plays correctly during quick play, yet no notes are shown when the song is selected during training mode, i could not practice the full song or any sections, even though the section names were displayed correctly...dunno what the deal is. www.mediafire.com/?uxy2zhzgmz9the 2nd song i have uploaded works correctly in quick play, i can practice the song in training mode, yet on the song list, i cannot see the genre displayed. :/ so i hope it was beneficial for me to bring these 2 minuscule bugs to your attention, im sure youll iron out any kinks with the next release. thank you for reading.

iancerRegarding the 2nd song: The Genre is only displayed, if it can be displayed in full (i.e. if it won't cause the artist, genre line to be truncated by "..." characters)

I've found a faltal bug, when u hold the 4 n 5 fret button, u cannot strum. i used training mode to see if i just get the wrong note but i think its a bug bc it doesnt even low ur points if u hit it wrong.

aero: this might be a problem with your keyboard, a lot of keyboards have this problem try with a guitar instead and you'll see that you can strum btw: getting this when strumming really fast (eruption and jordan for example)

really? at least i can say for sure i dont have that same problem when using the guitar. also my razer tarantula allows me to press many buttons so i never have problems with that one my other cheap keyboard(s) however lockup in different ways. some lock with fret 3+5 and some lock with 4+5 and some just lock with 1+2+3 but not 2+3+4 or 3+4+5 btw, about the error/crash i posted, you need to strum insanely fast to make it crash like that i tried to crash it using my keyboard tapping enter like mad but i dont get the same speed as if im strumming up and down the fastest i can, so if you're looking into the issue and want to try if it crashes for you too, make sure to strum like mad using the guitar edit: turns out you can actually strum fast enough with keyboard if u do it with 2 fingers, on 2 different keys

I was just playing on keyboard today, with a different key setup than normal, and I got this issue with strumming with Blue + Orange held down (doesn't even have to be a chord... can just be an orange note by itself). When I was using ZXCVB for Green through Orange, the problem was there, but when I used 1 through 5, I could strum Blue+Orange with no trouble. So in short, try a different key binding setup (or get a controller) and see if that helps

This isn't a critical error, but i ran into a problem when I tried to load a song with separate band, guitar and bass tracks with a *.chart file. The band track loaded and played fine, but the lead and bass tracks were nowhere to be heard (it works as a *.dat though but I'd like *.chart support too). Thanks for making this crazy GH sim!
EDIT: I found that renaming the mp3 files I used to song.ogg and guitar.ogg works fine (which is reasonable). This is, I simply renamed them (no conversion at all). GZ2 seems to support MP3 files perfectly, it's just not made to look for them I guess.
Also, I dont know if this is implemented or not but chart files have a "Guitar Stream" and "BassStream" (and probabally "RhythmStream" too) to denote where the other tracks are located.
Now to figure out what filename GZ2 looks for in a rhythm/bass track...

maeglinIf you did happen to find that song, could you please upload it's song.ini, .chart or .dat file? Thanks alot! Also, if anyone else has this problem with a song, please upload these files so that I can fix the crash. melonman67Thanks, this will be fixed in the next release.

ok this still isn't fixed i don't think: if two players play on the same difficulty in pro face off, whichever is the lower score, both players get. eg.: player 1 hits 98% on expert, (should get) 5 stars player 2 hits 50% on expert, 3 stars both players get 3 stars.

maeglinThe song you posted was not the one that causes your game to crash. As said previously, your problems comes from a song with a weird character in its name. I asked you to post THAT song, not just any song.

Probably been reported before. I apologize if it has, but if you set <stage> to video and use a WMV encoded .avi file, the game will crash on completion of a song or when quitting a song.
EDIT - I'm uploading the video I'm using now. Should be up in about a half hour, but I'll post it once I wake up in the morning.

TeanDon't need to upload the video. When I enabled the "video stage" for public use, I emphasized that it's completely unsupported and isn't really working with most files. That hasn't really changed since then

Callisto,
Regarding a previous discussion on how GH2 handles chords and HoPos, I apparently was not entirely correct in saying that HoPos can never follow chords. It seems (currently a hypothesis) that a HoPo can follow a chord if the HoPo note is not a note in the chord. For example, a Blue+Orange chord followed by a blue note would not be a pull-off, but a Yellow note following a Red+Blue chord would be a HoPo.
I was playing a custom song yesterday on my PS2 and I noticed that there was a hammer-on right after a chord. Today, I followed up by observing several custom and GH2 songs, particularly Psychobilly Freakout and Laid To Rest (from which I took the above examples).
Just throwing this little "revision" out there in case it would be useful to you in some way.
[edit] I forgot to mention, HoPos can follow sustained notes in GH2 as well. If I ever said otherwise, I was wrong about that also.

I don't know if it's been mentioned. I dunno if it's meant to happen or what. But i always wondered about.. When you pause the game, the pause menu comes up. If you look at the meters and things, there's a blue glow behind/around it. I noticed that if you pause the game after hitting a note(when the flame is almost gone), the flame will be there while paused. Not a big deal, just something I noticed a while ago and never mentioned

I mentioned this before, but: if you activate SP then it runs out in the middle of a held note, the notetrail spark (glow) stays blue. and during SP on the green held note, you can see and outline of the png off the side of the fretboard.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but last night a friend and I played pro face off, and my guitar (Xbox 360 Strat, player 2 position) would not deploy start power when I asked it to. Instead it would deploy at random times. Cooperative worked fine.

does that not come under the error of SP being incredibly sensitive???
Or was it activating in completely random places??

Hello rocking fellows, i was totally bored from GH and GZ for a while, but now i have time and nerves to play again this frustrating game Anyway, few times what ive played now, i have noticed that the cursor stays visible although im playing this game in fullscreen. Dont know is the fault in this game, or in my mouse or what, but its a 'bug' anyway, i think Usually after restart it goes off. EDIT: Ok, not so big deal, i can get rid of the cursor if i just MOVE my mouse (D'oh!)

does that not come under the error of SP being incredibly sensitive??? Or was it activating in completely random places?? Completely random places. As in I couldn't get it to activate when i wanted. I have both the tilt sensor and the select button mapped to start power, neither would work. I'd press the select button a bunch and have the guitar tilted, then like a minute later it would activate. But coop and single player worked fine.

I found an SP bug. Whenever I activate Star Power in a few certain songs midway through, SP activates, but only lasts for a millisecond. Here's one of the songs that does that: www.mediafire.com/download.php?msujroybwyz

i think thats an issue with the bpm of the song. Certain songs have different bpm thresholds at different sections and then if the bpm is to high or slow (not sure which) the lenghth of SP is affected. If you play freebird, you will notice SP that lasts for a very long time!
