I would like to learn to build my own songs. Of course, I can take a song and convert it to a .ogg and then make another file just the guitar sound in an ogg that's simple. What I don't know is how to create the notes on the fretboard and when I make them how to get them exactly tuned with the song. I would also like to learn to add star power and a bass .ogg so that I can play Co-op with a guitar and a bass. By the way, I need a little help with the vocabulary around this place. What is "Free-tar" and "Feedback" and ".Chart files"?

Free-tar is another free Guitar rhythm game. FeedBack is the Fretting program, the one to create the notes on the fretboard. This program saves the notes in a .chart file. You can find FeedBack at www.dotblip.com/feedback/. There is also a useful Tutorial there on how to use the program. It is actually quite user friendly.

I found it about a week ago no problem. But it sucks in comparison to GZ. Songs were virtually unplayable, as the thing couldn't recognize notes fast enough.

I think the one I got was a very early version. I t was clunky and completely 2d, without your traditional perspective fretboards as you know it. It was just a top down flat game, with a built in, somewhat functioning editor. The only redeeming feature: it played .oggs and .mp3s . Trust me, GZ is better than whatever I downloaded. I searched for PC Guitar Hero and came up with an obscure link when I found it.

i am aware the game blows balls i just wanted to test the editor. It has good reviews. Also its nice to have tried everything. If yours has an in built editor its not what im after. I referr you to my previous statement. Freetar is dead.

What is "Free-tar" and "Feedback" and ".Chart files"? Are you writing your own tunes? If you want to build guitar zero versions of exisiting songs, making a file of just the guitar sound is a LOT more difficult than you might think (in fact, it's impossible). If you've written and recorded the tunes yourself, tell me what software you're using and I'll tell you the easiest way to make the guitar zero version (or make a tutorial or whatever).

It's physically impossible. its to do with frequecy content and the harmonic series. Unless you have a seperate recording of the guitar, of course. You can emphasise and hide the guitar, but even this is tricky and will sound absolutly terrible.
