@callisto
the thing is, you need to try to make the HOPO as well as othe systems, aspects of the game CUSTOMIZABLE, that way you give control to the user, and please everybody @ once... just my 2 cents, but if you could somehow make the HOPO system adjustable in the infamous "GAME" options, it would ease a lotta headaches, or even like a per-song threshold adjustment that can be made from the pause menu 'think 'Song Options'' that saved to the xml and went into effect the next playthrough...

I love that idéa. We could put a default treshold value to ex: 170 in the config.xml. But i'm pretty sure the .mid files also tells wheter it's a 170 or 250 treshold value for the song. maybe not spesific, but atleast two different values to choose either one. But the whole idéa would get somebody to find out the perfect treshold value soon (+ maybe some other values needed that i don't know about?). anybody keep track of which songs has treshold 240/250 from the gh games?

jurgenyweaYou're probably using Vista. Check the respective "Installing under Vista" guide in the tutorials section. hulkhaugenWhat makes you "Pretty sure" that this information is contained within the mids? Have you seen it anywere?

because there's so much unknown information in the .mid files, according to what i've seen at the scorehero forums. it would be logic to put that kind of info in the .mid. I don't even know how to read the .mid files, but maybe we (you) could compare for differences between the .mid files for songs we know have different tresholds. pretty sure doesn't mean 100% sure

hulkhaugen, callisto, lancer The default threshold is stored in beatmatcher.dtb. All the game's songs are listed in songs.dtb Any song-specific information, like HOPO thresholds, is also stored in songs.dtb These dtb files are stored in the Guitar Hero .ARK files (a container file that contains most of the game's content) Reference links: Link 1Link 2How to make 8th notes HOPOable (DTB editing guides thread)Oh, and I made a list of the GH2 songs with alternate HOPO thresholds hereI haven't been able to rip the GHE .ARK file to my computer (disc is kinda beat up), so I haven't been able to check out the alternate HOPO songs in that game yet. I'll probably have to torrent a copy to do it. [edit] Wow it torrented pretty fast... GHE songs with HOPO threshold = 250: - Ballroom Blitz
- Caught In A Mosh
- Electric Eye
- Los Angeles
- Only A Lad
- Play With Me
- Police Truck
- Radar Love
- Turning Japanese
- What I Like About You
And the GH2 songs: - Monkey Wrench
- Tattooed Love Boys
- Who Was In My Room Last Night?
- One For The Road
- Raw Dog
- Thunderhorse
- X-Stream

@darthslaw
thank you for the info man, its priceless
@callisto
think something like a beatmatch.xml could be added to the songs directory when a song is completed that, is assigned GZ2's initial HOPO threshold value would be written as the default. then for the songs that we find need adjusting, the user could manually edit the value, rather than in-game. this way, there is no, md-play adjustment, and custom song could be distributed with individual beatmatch.xmls if need be? i think thats is a practical solution for the time being, its a simple as offset or delay support. i know you know your code, so a lil if/then action should be enuff 2 get the job done during the song load phase right...
