To be honest callisto.. it might not be used very often except for in this mod. Ive noticed that people are requesting things that are specific to mods but arent going to benifit from general use.
Other the other hand it may be good? who knows

yea that sounds good to me
potentially the idea could extend to 3d meters later down the line using frames of animation rather than image frames, this could allow for smooth blending between steps instead of a harsh noticable jump
if u have any interest in this i could provide a meter setup in 3d with 20 frames of animation setup the same way as the 2d version would be

fatdogI'm interested in having the meter as a model in general. So if you could produce something along these lines, that would be great.

maybe we could request support for an aditional graphic for the meter with 12 or so frames, for other mods people could just leave it as a transparent file so it doesn't screw up exsisting mods, but for this mod u could then have a fairly smooth meter i don't know about rockband, but gh1,2,80's and 3 has about 130 different levels on the rock meter where 1 miss equals 3 hits (4 hits in gh3) etc...

adding many states for the rockmeter would look good but that would be too much work to create 20 or 130 diferent states lol 3d meters seems to be our best option as far fatdog stills here to help us with the 3d stuff

well i have sent a version of the meters now, so hopefully something will happen with that, if the version i sent can be supported it would be an easy task to set the number of frames to whatever u like, if it doesn't work then i may need to use an alternative method that is a lot slower, but still possible

If you want an idea for the score meter, you could always try something like this

i like jd's original rock meter best, and i think txf's multipliers are the best rb multipliers. (just from the screen shot)
Txf 2 questions:
1. How did you make the star power meter? (energy meter) is it just a still image under the fretbuttons in the fretbuttons.png, or is it part of the multiplier bg? And does it actually do anything, or does it stay the same the whole game long?
2. Why does your screenshot look sorta messed up? (The fretbuttons stick straight up, the sp notes are yellow and black etc.)

imma a dumba**.
i thot the score was kept up in one of the corners, and that the score meter was a bar, or at least, that's how it is on the version on my computer.

i already included those multipliers in the 2nd update, i PMed him and he gave me some stuff for rock meter and scoremeter, i just added that thingy in scoremeter so streaknodes look fine........ now its impossible to copy the scoremeter layout u see in the screen cuz GZ2 rotate the meters

Very nice Mod, looks really good... Are there any plans on creating a mod to add Drum support to GZ? I see that there is currently a mod on FOF that supports drums (herrings mod). Would be a very nice addition, as I want to keep using GZ, I don't like the looks or feel of FOF. Thanks

as of right now, you can make drum notes in the bass track if you rele want to play drums, but the colors will be out of order from the rock band drums and the orange note won't be a bar....

Thanks for the replies guys.... I see that in the FOF forum there are a few guys making the Drum notes for songs, so just thought if GZ can currently read the Guitar and Bass notes from FOF if it would be too hard to also make Drums an option... Thanks again

Callisto said it himself: he cant do drum support simply because he doesnt have a set. If people really want, I'll donate $100 when I can to him (wont be for at least a month or two) so he can buy a drum set (They're only $79 at walmart here, the rest is for the trouble of inplementing the drums, $21)

mew905The reason for not having a drum set is even simpler: Rock Band still hasn't been released in Europe yet (and BTW: Activision is planning to charge 2.5 times as much as in the US for it - which REALLY sucks). skizotNow THAT is a really good question. I had them running but something came in between and so I never really continued at that point. I really should, though - it's just a problem of simply not having enough time.

jesus christ! that totals almost $500 for the rockband set! sorry I didnt know you were in Europe. I could ship it there cheaper.

This mod looks really nice. I'm gonna have to grab it when I get home. Couple of ideas: Models for meters is a big yes - it makes the great mods greater and cuts down on the ghetto ones that just replace everything with low-res jpegs from google/improper photoshop saves. With the instruments now being sold separately, it should be very easy to fund buying a standalone drumset for callisto - When the game does come out in europe he can then buy just the disc used for very cheap and save himself the money on getting the whole package (I'm assuming you have at least one guitar callisto ) What do you say Mr. Lead Software Engineer? If we all paid for your drums would you code up support for them?

What do you say Mr. Lead Software Engineer? If we all paid for your drums would you code up support for them? well, that might be motivation but he doesn't actually need a drumset to make drum support. the drums still use the microsoft drivers which already work. he'd just have to code: 1. when you hit one the abxy buttons, it also strummed 2. to read the "PART DRUMS/PART DRUM" tag in the mid. 3. add all the drums text and stuff in the menu's 4. remove ho/po as they aren't needed for drums 5. allow drums.ogg to play if available 6. and the whole, orange fret as a giant middle fret. some of these might be kinda hard, depending on how he coded it. yea, probably more but that's the basic stuff that i can think of i'm all for drum support but, of course, it's all up to callisto if he's willing to put all the effort into it XD

That's why I suggested motivating him by offering to start up a "get callisto a drumset" fundraiser Back on topic: JD - this mod looks REALLY nice, I'mvery impressed! Anyone complaining about HOPO size needs their eyes checked, they're very accurate and perfectly discernable. However, I was dissapointed you didn't use the score/rock meters from this post: guitarzero2.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=20modpacks&action=display&thread=923&page=6#13802I thought they looked really nice and was a little bummed you didn't put 'em in. Hope they make it to the next update!
