well i've been producing an album for the past 3 years, and teaching myself along the way. It was a solo project for a long time, but i got a rapper/lyricist and singer/pianist/composer with me now, and i can play guitar now as well. These were made with magix music maker, and a few parts were made in fruity loops studio. I don't recommend magix, becuase it sux rele bad and u can't sell anything u make with it. I'm just making the first album to get heard. Then i'll make a second one with fruity loops entirely and sell it. We all have been working and making tracks since november, and we were s'posed to record vocals in february, but we just keep pushing it off.

You stuff sounds so studio quality like for a home production. Its awesome. Do you know of any bass vst's I could obtain that actually give good bass?

I pretty much just play guitar, I have a semi sense of beat so Im not completely spastic at drums but the stuff in my songs is basic becuase I cant write anything better

yah same here on the drums. i love the drums but don't hav a drumkit, although i think i mite get one if i get all a's this semester.

It sounds studio quality because my crappy a** magix is basically a giant sound studio program. No good synthesizers, just sfx and it takes out mic bg noise and adds reverb. I have to make everything out of loops or parts of loops. The only things i make from scratch are the drums and sometimes guitar. But i'll be doing everything with fruity loops next album, and i'll be playing real guitar and chase.r will play real keyboard, so it'll sound a little bit more "home quality," but we'll really get to have a lot of leverage of what notes go where, instead of having to dissect loops and s*** to get the sound we want.

All i know is that Fruity Loops comes with some awesome VST's. Sounds just like real guitar, real bass, real watever. And it's only $50 buks. I wuldn't even know where to begin looking for plug-in VST's. srry man. But wat u'v got going here is really good, and if i were u i really wuldn't change the ways i was doing things now. Once u get a pattern going, u'll get faster and more creative with ur writing and recording.

Well first off, u outta try the choruses to smoke on the water, iron man, or aerials (by SoaD) with just one (top E) string. Then from there practice stuf like the E penatonic scales. then after u got that stuf down, try smoke on the water using power chords. If u want the tabs or better explanation, just pm me. Or hzac, i'd bet he knows all that stuf except for maybe the aerials chorus.

Ya scales r important in general but i meant E penatonic earlier. Srry fr making the mistake of saying every scale. Everyone's trying to do something different now so everyone is using dif. scales for solos now, i think LP and SoaD use D scales (D minor and some scale on drop D tuning) but don't qoute me on that.

EDIT: I guess if you want a real recording studio sound, u could try using programs like "logic pro". Can really recomend logic...
