Hey everyone I'm new to the community and I've got a sort of a mod. (I couldn't find that this went under GUI mods, WIP mods, or the other category so I'll put a tutorial here) When I first loaded up GZ2, I was a smidgeon disappointed by the simple talking in the menu. I wanted something like the other real Guitar Hero games. I threw a few OGG's together of original GH songs. I'm pretty sure that you have to own GH1 and GH3 due to legal stuff. The songs are: Love of my Life - GH1 Guitar Hero - GH1 When You Were Young - GH3 First, download this file: download159.mediafire.com/2ycomgdyfxbg/usxenywz0wk/menubackground.oggwww.mediafire.com/?usxenywz0wkMr. Bigglesworth also ripped these from his guitar hero disc. www.mediafire.com/download.php?zj0hzf22dyzI would rename the file to something else. Open your GZ2 folder, then go into resources, then sounds. Find the 'background' folder. The one file can be deleted, or just add the new one. All the files in this folder are background music - so every time you navigate a menu one will be randomly picked. If you want both the senseless chatter and my compilation, just add the downloaded file to this. Else, just delete that one because there's another copy of it in the main Gz2 folder. (The same folder that Resources is in) Run Gz2. Hope you like it!

Actually, the idea of menu background sounds is not to replace the original file, but rather to copy additional files into the folder. That means, within the sounds\background folder, you can have as many songs as you like. The game will choose one at random each time you start the game or finish a song.

I wonder if this should be a standalone tutorial as you have it, or part of a larger tutorial covering a broader range of GZ2 custom stuff.

Yeah, it does seem somewhat of a... 'fine' topic. Perhaps after further evaluation, we could put it under the 'Getting Started with Guitar Zero 2' section?

Come on everyone, we really need the communities input. Please take the time to read it.

Personally i would prefer to see this 'hint' below that "Getting Started With Guitar Zero II" section..or under a new topic like ''Simple DIY customisations for the game'' or something like that. it's not that BIG feature that it is possible to add own background music in the game, but ofcourse worth to mention.
EDIT: And hey, check that "FAQ: Creating mods" tutorial by Derelict. He specifies every moddable stuff in resources folder, including the background music. Maybe it would be best to assimilate this Frizkie's post's content into the Mod tutorial?

Yeah the randomized songs is such a nice feature. Currently the mod currently has 6 song. I wish I could do randomized graphics that way it could randomly choose different loading backgrounds or fret boards.
