Sometimes notes don't appear until they're just about to cross the fret buttons, and sometimes (may be a chart thing) notes are rendered as HOPO when they shouldn't (i.e. chord notes have the white HOPO top). Problem songs can be downloaded here. Readme.txt describes the problems associated with each song inside. Some problems may be associated with my machine only, but maybe not. Also, for chart reading, the offset parameter can be a non-integer decimal value, but the program crashes with an error because it is expecting an integer.

Just downloaded the beta, and i found one bug.
Many of my songs is out of synch now, and it looks like the newest beta doesn't support the "Delay" command in song.ini.

@darthslaw Thanks a lot for your "song pack" - you're really helping with the way that you organized your feedback. However, I am missing the carts for: Chris Kline - Duke Nukem Jam and TSO - Wizards In Winter.
Perhaps you could also upload those for me?
Thanks a lot! Callisto

www.mediafire.com/?e3e4dxbdvguHere you go. [edit] by the way, after looking closer at the Holy Wars screenshot on the previous page, it looks like the same clipping-like issue is going on as in these two charts. Same goes for Thunderhorse and Bark at the Moon, which I just played now, as well as probably many others. It seems to be consistently covering the same notes. Is there some shine effect like in Guitar Hero that could be causing this? (where the first note(s) in the song reflect a ray of light as they advance down the fretboard) For example...

I don't know why the songs are padding weird, but the Rock Band songs I used in previous betas no longer pad correctly in Beta 4. Tested again in Beta 3 and it pads the delay correctly there, but not Beta 4. Here are a couple of the songs that aren't padding correctly. www.mediafire.com/?3mxjnmgtmmi

I am getting some random crashing, but it always seems to start the second time i try to run it. Says stuff about XNA, but i have it, cuz the game works most of the time.
and i am getting the same bendy problem as arschloch... espcially when star power is activated and/or notes are close together.
Thanks Callisto!

callisto2002 - No message, it's a Windows error (just "GuitarStar has encountered an error and needs to close.") It happens as soon as I press a key on my GH controller on the input screen (any key). The only thing I can glean from the error report is that it's an XNA error. I'm using a Nyko Wireless Frontman and an EMS2USB adapter.

I forgot to add that when GS reads a chart file, the song section names are not read in/set up. Not sure if this is a bug or if you just haven't gotten around to it yet, but posting just in case.

I'm running XP. Do you still have Beta 3 around anywhere (the download link is dead) so I can test and see if it still works with that? I got a new computer between 3 and 4 (the old one died).
For the record, the game plays just fine with a keyboard, and sometimes I see it register as "button #" on the setup screen before the crash.

noamattdUnfortunately, I don't have Beta 3 around anymore. Your crash sounds like some kind of DirectInput failure. Sorry, but that's probably too difficult to debug from the forum. For the time being you can use a program like GlovePie to map your joystick to the keyboard.
