Well, this was already posted several times and in several places, but just to make 100% sure it doesn't somehow get glossed over at this point, and since it's relevant to the thread...
Star Power is broken. It can be used at any time, even before you actually hit any notes.

I also get an error and cannot start the program: img201.imageshack.us/img201/8000/gz2crashhv6.pngSpecs: Vista Ultimate x64 Athlon 3500+ 1GB Ram GeForce 7600GT .Net 3.5 Framework XNA 2.0 Framework I tried installing the 2.0 framework but it says it is already installed... im assuming 3.5 includes 2.0? cause i dont have 2.0 in my programs list. Any help would be appreciated and im so pumped about this Guitar Zero 2, or "Guitar Star", i have been playing GZ1 for a while with GH1/2/3/80's songs and i love it, it's just kinda sucky that hard/expert are the same speed as medium or maybe easy.. Thanks in advance, and i love the site and your work!

No, .NET Framework 3.5 does not include 2.0. But your error seems to be because you didn't install DirectX 9.0c redist November 2007...

mdh13192It looks like you didn't install the XNA 2 Redistributables. If you were able to run the previous betas, then you only have the XNA 1 Redistributables. Go here and download them: www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=15fb9169-4a25-4dca-bf40-9c497568f102. oblivionedI can HARDLY imagine that you got exactly mdh13192's error message when playing a song. Check that please. icedragn43.NET 3.5 does NOT include .NET 2.0. Judging from your error message, you are probably missing .NET 2.0 SP1 - with emphasis on "SP1". Download and install .NET 2.0 SP1, then use the DirectX Web Installer.

i think that may be your computer, and not the game. I'm playing on a poor computer, but it floats nice most of the time.. i get a little pause if something is going on i the backround or i hit printscreen, but that's just my computer..

paulekuYou're saying that you have .net 2.0. However, you need .NET 2 SP1 for XNA 2.0... If that doesn't work, use file monitor (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/processmonitor.mspx) and please tell me what file it can't open. hzacClearing this bug-thread was a really, really nice idea. We should actually do this regularely! Thanks, Callisto

Not sure whether this is a bug with guitar star or something on my end, but I'm having trouble getting it to recognize a PPJoy Virtual Joystick. It's set as the windows preferred device in the game controllers control panel, and all the buttons are working (in windows). In guitar star, I can't change the input method from keyboard. If I plug in a usb controller, guitar star will recognize it. Any suggestions?

You shouldnt need ppjoy to play with keyboard.. there is a keyboard option in the input

I found a little situation when using <Songlist>Folders</Songlist> option.
I make an example of it, so you would understand my weak english.
I have three folders in my "Songs" folder, GH1, GH2 and GH3. When i start the game, i see all three folders correctly. I choose GH1, and i get those 6 folders, as usual. I pick one of them, for example Starting Out Small. I choose a song and i play it. After that, i come back to that list of the 5 songs in "S.O.S.".. and if i go back, it goes directly into main menu, although it should go back in GH1 folder. And if i go from main menu to "Go Play", it throws me into that "S.O.S." list that i previously chose, so it means i can't get back into the point i had in the beginning..

metalsnake07Yeah, you have found a bug there, sorry. It will be fixed with the next update. Until then, a possible walkaround is to install XNA Version 1 as well. However, an update will also fix the bug at the end of the week. fudeI'll look into that. However, for your folder layout the new "List" option would probably be optimal. I changed the way "List" works and in your case, it would give you folders for the first page (choosing between GH1/2/3) and tiers afterwards. Bye, Callisto
