Look cool. The logo needs to be pixelated to fit with the rest of the mod. Just an idea, change the copyright? Maybe have it say "Nintendo, Callisto, derelict" or something? As for the fretboard. It's a good idea. But it's just seems, anoying. It's too bright, and gets in the way of the notes. I suggest making it like a normal fretboard, but with that texture on top. Maybe like a wood texture, with shadows on the side like GH2? Infact, any chance of just uploading the fretboard, and I may do it for you? It would take me like 5 minutes seeing as I already have everything saved as a template, just gotta overlay the image Needs new meters/fretbuttons/notes(if possible). Since time isn't allowed to be moved(as far as i know), maybe you could move the actualy "time" over where time is placed in GZ? I like the stage background though, it's darker, I like darker stages. Also, i suggest maybe re-taking the screenshots of mario, but this time turning off the filter(if possible..depends on the emulator).. Makes them less blurry. I dunno if NES emus can, but I know snes/gen and such can.

yeah. and I'd say black out mario and bowser in the background, and make the rockmeter a goomba or something Starpower notes should be the golden star (the one that flashes different colors) as different colors (maybe mostly gold but slightly tinted the appropriate color? up to you) as well as the notes should either be 8-bit (ask if you can use the ones from the 8-bit mod... or is that FoF?) If not 8-bit models shouldn't be hard seeing as how they dont rotate

txf - Thanks for your suggestions. I uploaded just the fretboards Here Any help you can give would be appreciated because I'm still VERY new to graphic design. (Making reflecting text where the reflection fades off is about where I'm at, I learned how to do that when I started my Wii mod, but realized that was going to take a lot more work so I switched gears to this one) The next thing I'll probably work on today (got the day off, might as well use it for something useful) will be other menus and meters, maybe even fretboard buttons. However, the notes will come very last as I've never done anything 3D and would prefer to not install all the stuff necessary to do that on my work laptop. However, I'm thinking mushrooms or even shells of different colors for notes. (As a sidebar, I wish there was a sound that gets played when starpower gets activated...I think you know where I'm going with that) I'm not sure what you mean by the actual time, from what I remember I don't normally see the "time" is that something that can be turned on and off in config.xml? As far as taking new screenshots, that will come last. First I want to get something completely functional, then I can go back and make it look prettier. mew905 - Great idea about the goomba, I think I'll do that today. Also, I planned to move Bowser to the opposite side so you can see both of them on the screen. Also, the notes are a good idea, like I said, they'll be last to change. Thanks for the input, but I still am not sure about the menu's all being the same. Any thoughts on that?

u should record Mario running and jumping on platforms across the screen and loop it then make an AVI to use as a stage. this is an awesome mod though, i love the fretboard!

txf - Thanks! Fretboards added. (but not to the download, I will do that when I finish a few more things like the rock meter I'm working on. And *smacks head* I've never looked much at the config.xml, talk about it being obvious! xorange90x - I will wait for stage support and perhaps make a real stage for this, rather than use an avi. (Because its not supported, and doesn't it crash at the end of the song still?) I might think about it if it was a workable option... No thoughts good/bad on using the same menu huh? *shrug* alright. I think I'll be taking the easy way out on this one. Hopefully tonight I'll have a new download with new stuff...

Under "World" it'd probably make sense to put " *Tier#* - *Song # in that Tier* "

I definately like the fact that it has the correct font, can you get that to me? My first impression was that I didn't like it, but then I realized that the "T" really breaks up the word, if there was a way to make it look more like "GUITARZ" all one word and flow a bit better, it would really look nice. Thanks for the help! Definitely is spelled like that...the FoF alarian 8-bit mod is what you should shoot for www.mediafire.com/?xlw6mm9db0q The fretbuttons, fretboards, notes and text don't have the 8-bit flavor at all.... but if this is just a mario theme I guess it doesn't matter. How about using mediafire next time so there's more than 15 downloads?

Try this'n if you want it. I do realize that the Z doesn't look good, but if you want to use this as a replacement for yours, I'll fix it.

Looks awsome...just an idea I suddenly got - wouldn't it be cool if the notes were some sort of brick boxes, the fretbuttons green tubes and when you strumm mario pop up breaking the bricks and instead of the usual flame a coin pops up (wich suits good as you'r gonna use the coins as note streak)

I believe this picture is MUCH better than my last. You're right about the whole flowing thing looking nicer. You want any other pictures? I don't have anything to do this week. I was thinking of starting a Link to the Past mod!

Good work on the title screen. It'll definately get added to the mod when I provide an update (next few days, I've made a number of improvements) If I wanted to get really picky, I would say there should be a way to size it such that the "GuitarZ" fills the box, seems like something is missing. Like I said though, that's if I wanted to get really picky. Beyond that if you're looking for something to do I would suggest making a kick [censored] rock meter for Callisto so we can get the game moving forward. More mods can always come later, but a rock meter is something we should be able to come up with. See my suggestion hereOf course, if you'd prefer to work on a mod, I was thinking about a Mario/Bowser on a teeter totter for a face off meter, images for other screens like credits, newspaper, info bar when on setlist (that shows your top scores on a song), and I'd love to try out the fretboard/mario/notes idea of akatabrask. I'm currently working on a Rock meter, setlist, and a few of the odds and ends (# of stars on each song is a dpad, default song graphic is a blank cartridge, stuff o that nature...) Oh, and I'll need a cool Score Meter too. If you decide to do the Link to the Past mod, let me know. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't use some of the same NES graphics to create a base "NES" mod and then use that as a template for individual games.

Alright, mister "if I want to get really picky". I just resized it real fast, but it lost its rigid edges; not that it's very noticeable. [Edit] As for the Bowser/Mario teeter-totter idea, I don't think that you could make a face off meter that moves that way. Like when I first saw this mod, I started experimenting with the rock meter needle. I wanted to use the little castle with a flag, and as you do good, the flag moves up, but I couldn't make it work that way.

That's a good idea too, I actually created a mushroom graphic and in the top of the mushroom there are 3 colored areas and I was going to have a needle in the middle of the mushroom, but I can' seem to find a way to "anchor" the pin somewhere other than the bottom of the graphic. You definately can't do analog meters right now with anything besides a rotating needle. So you're right when you say that the teeter totter wouldn't work because you can't move the "anchor" point of the needle, however if you made the teeter totter with no base on it so it just rotated I think it would work. (I hope somebody responds to my help thread about making mods, so many questions that I don't know if I understand enough) However, you can work around this utilizing the "rock" text option, where you place an "image" inside the meter that allows you to change the Rock text color to match the area of rock you're in. If you look at the rock band mod update you'll find that they give blank images for the rock meter, needle, glows, everything except rock "texts" and then instead of a analog meter you can have a static meter that only shows a change if you break one of the "Threshholds". You could put in a group of images of the castle with the flag at different levels in the Rock Texts file and pseudo make it work that way. Sorry if I rambled, also there is a broken link on your image that you resized, however I didn't intend for you to fix it, just making an observation. I'm a big proponent for getting something done first that's not complete, and then going back and cleaning up the rough spots. Keeps things alive and interesting if you see fast, visible progress in the beginning of a project.

My new favorite mod.
If you don't mind, could I add this to my Gamer Hero setlist, like put it in my post as the official mod of the setlist?

Meh, of course you can. Who would say no? I just hope we can button this up with a few things we've never seen before. Oh, and FinkA55E, I was thinking about your castle meter, how about put a needle on the front of the castle, and then make the flag raise and lower with the steps of the rock meter using the "rock texts" I think I"m going to play with the fretboard ideas, cuz that would be neat to see mario breaking up the notes.

Hard part there is finding where to place the flag on the png, because you'd probably just have to use trial and error.

You're exactly right. I'm thinking if I continue to build mods that I might build a "Mod Builder Toolpack" with some small vb apps that would simulate the game spacing and allow you to preview how it would look in game without needing to actually launch the game and get into a song.

thanks, lookin' really awesome! although i do have to agree with tracker, the setlist background is looking pretty horrid, haha EDIT: just got done playing with it and i love the sound effects also, i don't know how far you can mod it but you should make the mushroom meter turn from a poison/normal/1-up mushroom depending on how good your doing

The setlist is definately not my favorite part, but it was something to get in there so it wasn't just generic or GHIII. Do you not like the concept, or is it just the implementation. I hate the implementation but like the idea.
As far as the mushroom meter, we'll see. It could definatley be done by setting the meter graphic to a nothing graphic, then using the rock texts to change the complete graphic for every rock level. Right now though, the mushroom meter wouldn't really look right if I can't change where the needle is anchored to the meter itself, hence why I'm leaning towards a castle meter with a flag raising and lowering.

If you improve the setlist this will be my by far favorite mod, but so far, the GH3 mod is still slightly better.
Work on the setlist. ^_^

So the setlist is officially the next thing I will work on....I can work on it tonight, but I'd still like a little direction as to whether the current one is a good idea, or do I need to go in a completely different direction. BTW - Saying that I'm just slightly lower than a ripped mod means that either we did a decent job implementing it, or the original idea was pretty strong. Thanks for the compliment either way!

Completely new direction, imo. I think you should go with something like a giant Mario-esque sky. Like, sky blue, with the familiar clouds around, and it repeats. And use Mario stars are the song stars. Shouldn't be hard at all right. EDIT: wiki.brown.edu/confluence/download/attachments/18531/002.jpgthat. use that as a setlist background. much better
