And I just got bluescreen First ever, so yeah it was pretty exciting. Didn't catch the error though, because my PC booted. Anyway, it's never happened before. I just changed <fullscreen>false</fullscreen> to true and that's when it happened. edit: I run 32-bit Win XP Pro (media center edition) with latest updates.

themagicianThat's purely system-related. Check your windows error log to find the reason for your crash. However, as GZ2 runs in a managed context, there's basically next-to-nothing in the game that could cause this. Most likely reason: Your graphics card drivers couldn't cope with the fullscreen mod.

Um, i dunno if it's been mentioned.(don't feel like checking) But if you strum/miss fast..it ends the song and counts it as finished. I just finished a song with a score of 0, 0%, 3 stars.(testing it out)

If it's already been mentioned, I apologize, but when the joystick is disconnected, it crashes.

@callisto: However there is another problem. the audible whammy effect works, but it takes forever to come in and stop. Gives it more of an echo-y sound and slightly higher pitch. Also the whammy visual effects arent working. May just be my guitar (I am using the analog adapter now, so whammy works ) but the axis is centered, and the whammy points axis 0 up, proportionally to the whammy bar being pressed. Maybe it has to 'center' at the bottom to get a better/faster effect? err... no, that would just read the axis in the other direction... Anyway, I had to run it in compatability mode (in the xml file, not in Vista's properties) so maybe thats the problem. Without compatability it doesnt work at all but I'm guessing thats sound-chip based (I use onboard, I'll have to get ahold of an audigy or X-Fi to test otherwise) Freebird doesn't have long notes long enough to hear an audible difference between whammy and not. Also if I hold the whammy bar, even single notes get the 'pitch shift'. Not much of a problem, just thought you should know. Great update btw! I switched over from beta 4 update 2! Finally my whammy bar is working. The problem is the centering of the analog input. In the X-plorer guitar the default state is full, and when you press it is empty, but in my super dual box pro the default is centered, so i fixed it callibrating the bar in the windows control panel by keeping pressed the bar, so the default state now is "down". But it needs a dead zone to work properly, because the guitar is sending little analog inputs constantly. For a in-game fix i think the game must read the initial input analog state, and then calculate from this value taking account of a dead zone value, perhaps read from config.xml, and if initially it reads negative numbers, reverse the distorsion sound algorythm. (Hope i don't wrote a stupidity)

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That f***ing glitch where the song ends all of a sudden is so muthaf***ing annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol now i feel better, haha. On a much more srs note, that rele ought to be a top priority to fix. I'm not hounding you castillo, i know you're busy, and you're working hard on this game (and on top of that you most likely hav a social life). And as i said b4, this program is becoming even better than the real guitar hero games , but that glitch just kinda ruins it. And i'm not just complaining either; i was wondering, this glitch started happening around the beta 5a release, so... what did you (castillo) change between the beta 4 and beta 5a releases. I was sorta thinking that this might have something to do with the new hopo system, or maybe the sp glitch and this glitch are connected...? ???But then again i know nothing about programming other than the stuf you can learn with game maker. So i could be (and most likely am) so far off with that last claim.

When I try to play multiplayer with some of my family members who are not as good as the average gh player, they miss to much notes and the song finishes even if it is not the end, and goes to the results screen. Other than that, gz2 rocks.

themagicianyou need to edit the .mid file in anvil and either: delete the track that is not TRACK1, rename TRACK1 to TRACK GUITAR, or you can delete any track other than TRACK1 and then convert the mid to .dat.... hope ive helped

txfCJB100We are talking about a bug in multiplayer here, aren't we? themagicianIt means one of your songs seems to be broken. Is it possible for you to extract the track and send the .mid file to me?

nah, i'm talking about the main mode of the game, quickplay.
EDIT:: Yah and i'm still getting the sp glitch where i either get no sp or the sp lasts for like and hour, lol. (that's an exaggeration of course).
And i am also completely sure that i have the newest version/update, and i know that i replaced all the files that needed replacing. If it helps, here's my config.xml settings, just in case you need them to figure out the glitch:
<?xml version="1.0"?> <Configuration xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Audio> <PitchShiftingEnabled>false</PitchShiftingEnabled> <CompatibilityMode>false</CompatibilityMode> <CrowdVolume>5</CrowdVolume> <CrowdClapVolume>15</CrowdClapVolume> <ScrewUpVolume>95</ScrewUpVolume> <MissVolume>20</MissVolume> <SongVolume>145</SongVolume> <Delay>90</Delay> <SyncTracksToMs>15</SyncTracksToMs> </Audio> <Graphics> <FullScreen>true</FullScreen> <VSync>false</VSync> </Graphics> <PositionForRandomSongOption>Bottom</PositionForRandomSongOption> <Player1Lefty>false</Player1Lefty> <Player2Lefty>false</Player2Lefty> <SongList>List</SongList> <SongDirectory>Songs</SongDirectory> <HyperSpeed>false</HyperSpeed> <ShowRemainingSongTime>false</ShowRemainingSongTime> <PlayerName>Player</PlayerName> <Stage>Image</Stage> <SortSetlistBy>Title</SortSetlistBy>

CJB100Try turning on compatibility mode. I can't seem to reproduce your problem in SP - fast strumming doesn't cancel the song for me.

Post by darthslaw on Apr 22, 2008 12:05:09 GMT -5
With compatibility mode on and off, the game still ends the song when I strum fast but not hitting anything. E.g. when I'm strumming fast in a part of the song where there are no notes to hit.

uhm, when you're whamming a SP notetrail, the trail should change to SP-color..

That should be in the suggestion thread shouldn't it? o.O Also Um. I had my config.xml set to windowed. I changed a few things...(turned Hyperspeed on, and turned off the dificulty apearing after a song).... and I opened GZ, and it opened fullscreen. Turns out the config.xml "reset". Now I tried just changing ONLY the Fullscreen option to False, but it resets when I open the game.

txfThe value is called "false". The config.xml will reset if you have a spelling mistake or something similar in it.

So Um...Capital Letters count as a spelling mistake? Like, "False"..I should use "false" instead?
Edit: Ok got it thanks. I think I kept forgetting to ad a capital D on Directory.. xD

Umm i'm not sure whats wrong, maybe stars are switched, but in coop if i play a song with me on expert and player 2 on easy i only play, the other person doesn't after i finish the song, I have 94% notes hit, 3 starts player 2 has 0% notes hit, 5 stars we have the same score

callisto,
i have a little query that you may be interested about. when we choose our song the highlighted song is not in the centre.. its up the top and when scrolling up you cant see the songs that are above you.
i was jsut wondering if there was any way you could keep the highlighted song in the middle of screen rather than it moving against the top.

Everytime I hold a long note there is like a live preformance echo and it's annoying. It's most noticeable in my Goofy Goober Rock song but the version i have sucks anyway.

When i play with my friend multiplayer and when we miss notes we still have guitar and bass in background.. It's normal?

|
|
Post by fude on Apr 27, 2008 5:46:34 GMT -5
If you have no separate rhythm.ogg or guitar.ogg files in that song directory, its normal that you can still hear the guitar and bass sounds in the song although you have missed notes..

fude - but we played songs from GHIII and RB, where is there separated guitar.ogg and rhythm.ogg. In singleplayer, when i miss note i didn't hear guitar, but in multiplayer.. mhm.
And this situation is in all three options, proface-off, face-off and co-operative.

Hi Callisto. I have noticed that since you now have the option to enter your name after the song it Causes a bug with my keyboard configuration. I use buttons 1-5 as the frets and whenever i finish a song and press 5 (orange) rather than going to the more stats screen the game assumes i would like to change my name to 5! I have not noticed this before but it is rare that i do well enough that i want to see a 'detailed' breakdown!!

Ok. On "Call of Ktulu - Metallica" By Puppetz_86. I tried using Star Power durring and after the solo...and it flashed blue every time, then went away. It didn't even last a full second, just..flash, then gone.
I played in Expert
I can't upload the song at the moment, because for some reason my net is messed up, and I can't upload ANYTHING to anywhere. So, um.. If someone would be so kind to upload the song for me and post it, preferably quoting this post.. That would be appreciated...thanks
