Looks pretty good. I don't get the guy in the newspaper though >_> I guess it's suppose to add "wild west" style to it, but the plastic guitar kinda spoils it ^_^

i think the whole paper should be rearranged, especially if we should add all those counts.. unless callisto comes up with a fiffy way to place the different results by a .xml or something...

1. I think that there should be a xml that lets you place things on the newspaper where you want, so we can have a good GH3 newspaper, 2. And a GH3 hyperspeed system. Good that we got for all difficulties but i like faster sometimes. 3. Not sure if callisto has this on his list, but a way to play bass on practice mode, 4. Sound options in the options when an ingame config is implemented, 5. An option for in the controller setup that theres a box you check and it makes the game require analog on a guitar setup so i can use whammy. Phew, did i miss anything? EDIT: WOOT 50th POST

Well to think about it, an xml for most everything would be nice. Or making it open source. I'm not trying to be a dick but that would open up a lot more ways for people to implement things, then create a system to submit whole mods. And if you use sourceforge, people could compile the svn source in C# and test for bugs before you release an update (a wider range of testing catches more bugs). I guess it could be better if we wait until a final release so there won't be different versions floating around, but I don't usually see those problems...

the game ain't ready for the open source marked yet. ew don't want bad versions floating around..
but when callisto has fixed a lot of bugs, and is satisfied, i think it could be a great idea...

Hmm well idk are there lots of problems with projects that use sourceforge? Like unsigned, I don't think there are that many problems... I guess thats because of the smaller community.

no, i just think that callisto should finnish the rough part first. if he uploaded it now, several ppl might develop it different, and suddenly we would have 10 different half-finnished gz2 games out there...
but on the other hand, when callisto is satisfied, i think that it might be good for the game to get some new and fresh programmers to refresh it a little...

Yeah thats pretty much my view as well, I'm just thinking about other ideas. But when its released, open sourcing it would let us do total overhauls and really nice mods.

I would like to request a left handed mode in multiplayer. I play with my wife who is right handed, but I'm a lefty, so it would have to be able to support just one left handed player.
Thanks in advance if this is possible.
Also, when playing multiplayer, the vs meter works well - but it would be even better if the whole thing changed colour depending on who is in the lead. That way you can see who is winning using your perifiral vision. (how do you spell that?!)

The code base isn't released yet, because I fear that releasing it too early will not advance the game , but will rather split development up into a lot of non-related mods. I used to play FoF and I noticed how they only release a version after about half a year - even though their community is much wider.
Also, it seems to be hard to get something flowing back from the community into the game directly. For example: We have a few great mods out there, but none of them tried to improve the UI that comes with the game. Therefore, nothing floating back into the code base.
Bye, Callisto

I used to play FoF and I noticed how they only release a version after about half a year - even though their community is much wider. There are not early releases because the developers dropped the game. Now the game is responsability of one of our own, Rogue-F, a famous Modder, responsable by the great RF-Mod. The developers have already said that they were dropping development, and if that they made a last release, it would be a fixed exe to correct the use of pyOpenGL 3 and it's lagginess that made 1.2.512 unplayable. The source is, however, released to the public, and anyone can mod it. I did it myself, to add a Scoremeter and Rockmeter to the game, and many other modders added much more content than the devs expected. HOPO's, Performance Options, Multiplayer, Failing Possibility, Song Listing, 2D Notes and Keys... So much... All done by the comunity. I think that, in time, you should release the source to a couple of interested SERIOUS programmers on the comunity. Or else, much like FOF, there will end up being 10 versions of the same game for different releases.

i suppose this is how it's gonna be, but i just wanted to make sure that when you include text-images for multiplayerdifficulty and multiplayerchoice(guitar/bass), that there will be a separate image for player 1 and 2, or the possibility to change this in the menus.xml. We really need this for the GH3 mod

i'd like to make a request for a whammy 50% button to enable a analogue type effect for the whammy for keyboard based controllers
this would have no negitive effect for anyone who doesn't want to use it but means if u use a wii controller with glovepie or anything else that knocks the whammy down to a simple on and off you could get the effect working nicer since u can assign different keys to different pressure ranges

A simple request: Can you add support for one more subfolder in songs folder? I would like to do something like songs/GHIII/tier1/song1 Thank you very much for this great program.

It already has that support. First a setlist where you choose game, example gh3. Then a new setlist appears with tiers and songs just like in the real guitar hero games

how about adding HDR with an option to toggle it on and off? HDR would look amazing on the notes and maybe if there was an option to use a model as a fretboard, someone could make a glass fretboard with HDR on it...man am i dreamin BIG

I think that for co-op, the Difficulty Selection screen should come after the players have selected their parts (bass, guitar, etc), rather than before. I don't remember for sure now, but when I tried to play a song at home with my brother, it had only expert guitar and expert+hard+medium bass, but the difficulty screen had only expert as a selectable difficulty for both players (thus preventing access to the hard and medium variations of the bass track).
Also, it would be nice if GZ2 displayed "Rhythm" as the name of the second co-op part if the song has a rhythm track rather than a bass track.
For charts, that's a piece of cake -- just check what the "Player2" item is equal to in the "[Song]" section.
For midis, I think all you can do is check the different track names and see what is there. Guitar Hero has a separate data file (songs.dtb I think) that lists the song data, including what co-op parts it should look for. As far as I'm aware, there is no such indicator in the midi file, and the midi only contains the tracks that GH expects to find.

How about your fretboard twiggles when you trigger star power, or miss a note? And when you miss a note, it will also turn black for a brief moment.

I know there's already a Hyperspeed thing. But what about a "Board speed" option in the config.xml. Or something. Like:
<BoardSpeed>100</BoardSpeed>
100 would be default. then you could make the board slower with lower numbers, and faster with higher numbers? - The same idea could be put toward Strum timing, and HoPo timing. So we could make it so we can actually strum HoPos, or have more GH2 timing and stuff.

wouldnt that be affected by the speeds of the board being higher on expert and turtle slow on easy? maybe this would be a really good idea though... maybe we could just eliminate those easy medium hard and expert default speeds and just have a menu after u select difficulty that lets u choose speed in variables of 1 from 1 (so unbelievably ridiculasly slow) to 100 (like 3x hyperspeed), and have like 50 as a default speed like hard is on GH or somethin. i might make a pic of my idea and attach. maybe just maybe... edit: here's a roughy
