No wonder! Sorry about that! Download this fileunzip and copy it to your "system32" directory, normally found in "C:\Windows" Go to the start menu and choose "Run" Type "cmd" to open a command prompt type "regsvr32 AlphaImageControl.ocx" Hope that works for you! Please let us know!

I made mention of the known bug that if a mod folder is named too long then it won't work, right? What folders do you have in your mods folder?

I will check when I get home that may be the case. I thought the bug was only with the windowed version.
Thanks

It can rear its ugly head in both versions...and the ability for GZ to be able to be run in multiple resolutions means that when I play on my project I will be setting my computer for 640x480, which means that I will have to fix this bug shortly. So if you have to shorten down some names, fear not as a fix will be on its way.
Also, I've been toying with the idea of launching the GZ Toolkit, which allows for editing the Config.xml prior to launching GZ, or writing my own version of the toolkit so that the mod switcher will incorporate an "Options" screen so that you can perform the lefty switch, change from Image to 2D Stage, and even change the resolution from the modswitcher. Because of this I might piggyback on the config.xml file to allow for the modswitcher to hold the last mod value and highlight it as a default, so if you constantly play one mod, it won't matter if its on the bottom the list anymore. Since I'll be working on this again, any suggestions you might have are welcome.

Out standing.
A request: Could you add the ability to double click the mod name? I am getting ready to move GZ to my Mame cabinet and won't be using a KB too often. The Track Ball works the same as a three button mouse.
Thanks

The app got another update, see the first post for downloads and see version history for what changed. nml - I think you'll be pleased, you can double click now, and I added an invisible "Exit" button for ya. Still looking for comments on whether people would use some of the proposed updates in the first post. I'd hate to spend time implementing stuff that nobody would really like. Let me know what I broke while I was trying to "fix" stuff.

Great job, I am glad you were able to add the dbl click and the hidden exit was a nice touch.
I like the potential additions you are working on.
This is a very nice addition to GZ.

Well, I have a sample program right now that can read the config.xml and check a box whether lefty mode is turend on, and then save it back to the xml file when you click apply. Having this, I don't think it'll be a big deal to put something in to do that.
However, my computer crashed yesterday because I didn't know the voltmeter I was working with near it had one of those magnets on it that you can hang it on the inside of the panel you're working on. I started to hear a "ticking" when I realized what it was it was too late. Everything was locked up. I have been able to rescue my files but it'll be a few days before the new HD is here and I can continue working on this.

ZuuZou - Why do you need to have it formatted like "RockBand" instead of "Rock Band"? I have spaces in most of my Mod names and it works fine. Were you having an issue where the name was too long perhaps? If so, download the new version that scales the text with the size of the application.

ZuuZou - Not sure what you need to do. What is the specific error that you're getting? I'm not sure what things are different on 64bit systems. You may need to use the "dumbed" down version. @anyone having a tough time download - I just checked my links and they all seem to be up. Is there something I don't know about the various upload sites and how they differ, so I don't understand why'd you have issues where I don't. Are you at a school or work where you're behind something that woudl block specific sites?

ZuuZou - I imagine it has to do with the project that I created the ocx with. I'll hopefully be able to take a look next weekend, or at least provide you with the dumbed down version. (No menu preview) @all - NEW UPDATE! I've been hinting at an update that will edit the config.xml. It's here! To go to the options menu you can either push the right arrow, or click on the options "button" on the top. Your current values in the config.xml should preload into the screen, and you can either double click to change, or hit enter. This was designed to allow all options to be changed with either a keyboard, remote, or a mouse. To use the new update, you can use your standard config file however name support and resolution support require some new text added into your config.xml. I have included a sample config.xml with some sample names and resolutions. There is support for up to 10 of each, just create a new key with the proper number behind it. All of my links broke at some point, and at the same point my computer crashed. I have been unable to reassemble all of the setup packages. Also, the newest update finished at 3:45 am, and I need to go to bed so I'm not going to create a new setup package. You should be able to run the single setup I was able to recover from my old HD and apply the new exe over the top of it. I will post a setup file sometime next week *crosses fingers* I will also be away from my computer all weekend and possibly beginning of next week. My wife thinks I can't go a whole weekend camping without my computer or other misc electronic gadgets...:-P Anyways, please let me know how you like the new update and how I can improve it. Also, if you'll notice update item "K". I need feedback on how this should be accomplished. I think that the new name should go to the top of the list and the last name on the list gets dropped....*shrug* maybe the new name shoud go to the bottom. I'm not sure, I need your help deciding. Oh, and I'm only putting these on megafileupload for tonight so I can go to bed, I'll put them on another site next week sometime. Good luck and let me know any problems, but sorry I won't be able to get to them right away! G'night! [EDIT] Full 3.0.0.0 setup package created. Link on first post.

UGG.... I get an error when I try to open any mod except the default mod. "Your resources/menus.xml is not suitable for this version" Then it says delete the menus.xml file to revert to default or update the mod file.... they're new. What am I doing wrong?

This sounds like a GZ2 problem, not the modswitcher. ( I only have a single error setup, and that's if it can't open the config.xml for some reason) Try to copy the resources folder manually from your Mods folder to the game's root directory and run guitarstar.exe and see if you get the same error. If you do then try posting in the "Help" section, if not then please send me the offending xml file and post a screenshot and we'll see what we can do.

Ok. I found the Menus.xml error on another post. Just edit the menus.xml file in notepad or something, and change the version number from 1.3 to 1.5 and save. Just a version check compatibility issue.

Ok Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Downloaded the AlphaImageControl.ocx and tried to regsvr32 it, but instead the command prompt tells me this.... Any ideas yet? I've seen one other post about this, but no answer.

Also, I read around on the "not compatible" issue, and found a couple answers for similar issues, but they didn't help. Just to eliminate these before someone else mentions them.. 1. Enable UAC (User Account Control), reboot, and try to regsvr32 again. Gave me a different error, though... 2. Run cmd.exe as Administrator to guarantee permissions....Did that anyway, made no difference. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

@64bit Vista users - After doing some digging, it seems that 64bit versions have complete backward functionality with all 32bit applications, but not with 32bit ocx's or dll's. I will be posting a test application for you to see if I can fix the app for you which won't have a seperate ocx, but rather all of the source code will be part of the exe.
@all - Just finished a new beta 3.1,0.0. This incorporates being able to switch the stage graphics prior to loading a mod. I'm not sold on having the graphics be in every mod folder, but that is how it is for now. Please give your feedback. With the new beta, on the options screen when you have the "Stage" property highlighted, a new button becomes visible named "Change Stage". In there, based on if you have Image, Animated2D, or Video will determine what list you get. It will look for a folder within the selected Mod folder's resources\textures folder named "Graphics". Inside of "Graphics" You need a "Stages" folder. Inside of the "Stages" folder you need an "Image" folder, "Animated2D" folder, and a "Video" folder. You don't need the folder if you won't have anything in it. The images and video folders just need to files in them, where the animated2D folder needs a folder for each stage you have named appropriately, and inside of that folder needs to be the stage2D folder and the stage2D.xml.
This is just a beta, but still let me know all of the issues you find. Thanks!
