I got this error message when trying to start the game. Anyway to fix this? How do I update my video card??? Thanks for that info iron, Ill update my post. With this problem your having have you tried running the Directx runtime web installer? It worked for me. i tried installing that, but i got an error saying that my current version of DirectX does not need that program to be installed. help.

okydokey i just tried multiplayer with my brother and there are quite a few problems :/ oh, and he was using a rock band guitar, which i am happy to say worked after reinstalling it ok: 1. The background "music" thing didn't stop playing when the song started - very annoying 2. no score/combo counters (art missing?) 3. the song never goes to the results screen - it just stops (continuing playing the background "music" thing) and i have to alt+f4 out of the game 4. the starpower doesnt work - at all. :/ other than that the multiplayer works fine though edit: note: this is with the latest version callisto upped (3 i think)

Ok...I still need help. My strum bar is just not configuring. I downloaded mentalpreout's config but I have a few problems. In-Game (as in when playing a song) the frets work fine. The Select button pauses the game, and the Start does nothing, but whatever. My main problem is that the strum DOESN'T WORK! I've tried holding down the strum and then clicking on the desired button I want the strum to be mapped to but nothing works. When on the "Input" screen nothing on my guitar works...therefore it's kinda impossible to map the buttons on my guitar for In-Game usage. All I need is a config file of a game that is configured like this:
G = 5 R = 1 Y = 0 B = 2 O = 3 Start = 8 Select = 4 Strum Down = - Axis Strum Up = + Axis Whammy doesn't matter because my PS2/USB adapter doesn't register the whammy bar.
If anyone could do that I would be able to play, and I would really appreciate it a lot. Until then GuitarStar is useless to me.

Try putting the game right into C:\GZ_Beta1 (or something like that). ironmaidenfan666Sorry, the error just means that your graphics card is too old and doesn't even support Pixel Shader 1.1. PS 1.1 is a requirement of the XNA Framework itself, while GuitarStar will even require you to get a card that supports PS 2.0. tjandfriendsYou're saying that NONE of your Guitar Buttons work in the input configuration screen. Have you actually selected the right input source? The first option during input configuration selects the source. Change it from Keyboard to the appropriate gamepad.

My only options in "Input" are Keyboard and Gamepad 0. I'm on Gamepad 0. And yes...none of my guitar's buttons work on the "Input" screen.

iv got a few bugs... @multiplayer:played proface off but theres a few oddities like the meter...wut is it going by???it should be going by score but every time u strum when there isn't notes it goes to the other side of the meter.another one is when the song ends it just frrezzes..on every song me and my bro played it frozed afterword... @folders in songs:i made a folder for Coheed and Cambria...everything in the worked but theres al;so a random folder that changes name from "new folder" to "list" everytime i goto setlist...plus it inserted some songs out of the folder into the folder other then that every other aspect of the game i love to death (other then the menus)the reson im not to happy about those is because it said guitar star and i was expecting the pictures kazriel made here www.guitarzero2.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=submissons&action=display&thread=1188998549&page=5

the <SYNCADJUST> tag is implemented backwards, you have the - where + should be... it needs to be reversed for the somgs to play as they would in GZ1

My turn! My turn! Of course, with all of these errors, I'm using the latest version (Update 3). Sorry if some of these have already been mentioned. ------------------------------------------- Bug #1I got this error message when I was scrolling down through the Song Section area of Practice mode. The song was Freebird, so you imagine I was scrolling for a little while. Makes it difficult to test since I have to Alt+F4 out of the game to start over mid-song. -------------------------------------------- Bug #3As insanehardhead said, background music plays, no starpower, no meters and it stops at the end of the song instead of going to the results screen in only multiplayer. Perhaps some of these are intentional... it is beta afterall. Just wanted to mention these again though, avoid them getting overlooked if they aren't on purpose. --------------------------------------------- Bug #4

As you can see from the picture, when I press the green fret and the red fret, I can still hit the red note. This happens with some of the other notes too.
If I hold down the blue and orange frets, I can hit the orange notes.
If I hold down the yellow and blue frets, I can hit the blue notes.
If I hold down the red and yellow frets, I can hit the yellow notes.
The only note this doesn't effect is the green note. I imagine this is because there isn't a fret to the left of it... since that seems to be the trend.--------------------------------------------- Bug #5I noticed that when difficulties aren't available, they become greyed out in Single Player mode ( great feature by the way!). This doesn't happen in Multiplayer. When the difficulty IS selected in Multiplayer (since it isn't grayed out like it should be), it's simply a blank chart. Again, probably intentional since it's a beta, just getting it out there. ------------------------------------------------ All of that said, I absolutely love this. Outside of the occasional bug here or there, it runs a lot better than Frets On Fire, even in multiplayer. Great job callisto!

It's just like a real guitar. If you hold down the first and third fret on the same string it'll only make the sound of the higher fret. It's also how it's possible to hit things like "They're Hammer-Ons" in Through the Fire and Flames (the intro). You just hold down the Green fret the whole time and tap the higher fret then release it for it to go back down to the green then tap the next fret. Rinse and repeat.

I did notice there seems to be a difference in timing, I miss a lot of notes I hit in FoF and Guitar Zero. It looks like GuitarStar is more critical, notes I play that register in FoF and GuitarZero as hits are rejected as misses in GuitarStar. This makes it feel and play different from the other two. Same here. By the way, I'm very pleased that this works with my shiny new "Harmonix PS3 Rock Band Guitar" Very nice. Keep up the good work

I like goat dick1. The multiplayer meter is going by crowd happiness, because this makes it possible for people with different difficulty levels to play against each other in Pro Face Off as well. 2. I don't really understand your description of the second error. Can you try to rephrase the problem? i think if there was an autostrumm function it would only work well with non guitar controllers like a normal gamepad or something but anyway incase no one else figured it out the rock meter doesnt go down nearly as fast as it should
Edit: here are the numbers ok so in guitar zero game it takes 26 hits to get it all the way up and 18 to go all the way down in gh3 it takes 70 hits to go all the way up and 19 to go all the way down so i was wrong it goes down fast enough but up way to fast ps those are my numbers i just counted so they may be like 2 or so off at most also thats only for expert i didnt feel like counting the rest

lol i know my grammar is terrible...ill try and rephrase it better
I made a seperate folder for coheed and cambris and put six songs in there.there is no extra folder or anything else other then the six songs.but in the game while im scrolling through the setlist there is 1 extra folder that sais "new folder" and when i go to the main menu then go back the folder that sais "new folder" now sais "list".
the other problem is that the coheed and cambria folder put the Bang Bang mystery man in its own seperate folder(again it doesnt show this in the actual "songs" folder) and it previews the song but when i press green on the song it goes to a new screen that sais "no songs in this folder" or some stuff like that.

I don't know if this is on purpose, maybe for performance reasons, but I wanted to bring it to your attention. However, the converted notes.mid looks correct in Frets On Fire as well, so it's definately just this beta causing it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- And one more issue I've seen, maybe this is just a problem with the notechart I've never noticed before, but EVERY note that isn't a double chord or isn't followed by the same note is a HO/PO. No matter how far apart they are. And I'm pretty sure this isn't the only custom this is happening with, can't remember too well though. I've never noticed this in Frets On Fire, so once again I imagine this probably has something to do with the beta. I've been wrong before though, but figured I'd give it a mention. Once again, I posted the song above if you want to use it for testing. .chart file included. As always, great job callisto! This game is great and I hope my bug reports are helping a little.

Ok here is another error I encountered. BTW I changed my sounds to basic in DirectX and it seems fairly stable. I played for over a 1/2 hour with out any problems. I tried to load the song ALL OF THIS in the GH1 setlist and I get this Error while loading song: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. After that when I try to load any song after that I get this error

one error that I got is with a chart converted to .dat (i use astroman`s converter) all the notes are wrong and with cmk2901 converter the .dat dont work sorry for my english i'm bolivian great work callisto!!!! the beta is great!!!

ok weve said this already the betas loading of .dats is extremely buggy just wait for callisto to get full support of them @ crayoladream yes a video card with shader model 3.0 should run the game f***ing great ill be getting one of those soon too

abother BUG in my PC.
Change volume un config.xml. cause the songs not work fine, frets plays automaticaly. The volume in song list is very high, but in the game the volume is low.
